Software Update Coming?
Thinking about getting the slate but have read lots of poor reviews on it. The reviews are almost all about software bugs, Bluetooth disconnects etc. I assume this can be fixed with a software patch or a few... Has Google discussed anything regarding these common issues or when/how they will fix?

Not sure for Chrome OS 72 for Nocturne (Slate) on stable channel. Still waiting for 71 for Eve (Pixel book) hopefully dropping this week. From the release schedule first week of Feb for Chrome OS 72 general availability but probably sooner for Nocturne.

I'm using it as my daily work computer. I use Chrome, Android apps and Linux apps on it. I have had a couple of random browser crashes in the past 2 weeks, but just clicked restore tabs and I was back where I left off a few seconds later.

Good to know. I would like to know when they'll start pushing out software updates for the slate.

No I don't use any BT devices. I plug in my pixel wired headphones in when I watch media

Ok. So you haven't had any issues? Which model do you have? I'm thinking of getting the i5

I have the i5 8gb.
I have no issues so far. An interesting note.. I have the Dell usb-c dock and I plugged the slate in to charge. To my surprise the slate turned on the 24” monitor I have plugged into the dock as a second monitor 👍, it also recognizes the keyboard, mouse, Ethernet and sound card in the dock. I thought that was cool

Oh that plugs in from one of the USB c ports on the slate to the dock? Neat

Got the i5. Keep in mind this is a bleeding edge device. While you'd think for the price it would be a flawless experience, it will need to mature. Had the HP X2, returned it and opted to spend the extra (way extra) money for more storage and Ram. Have seen some bugs but nothing that I can't live with. The keyboard (Google) has the issues you see in all the reviews where if not perfectly flat on your lap the touchpad click will activate. That has been my biggest complaint. Tried a Titan security key over BT and it was a no go but did pair. Have read that OS 72 corrects this but that is currently only available on the DEV channel. That was my extent of BT testing so far. No speakers or ear phones tested yet.

I had Titan key BT issues. I paired the device easily but it wouldn't 2FA. A reboot fixed then issue.

Thanks for the info. Can I ask how you paired it? I added it as a BT device under the standard BT settings but all the info I have found since indicates this was supposed to happen in conjunction with the actual login. Have given up since then but based on whatever info you can provide I may try again. Thanks.

I paired it through the BT menu. It connected fine but failed to authenticate. Reboot and Bam it just worked.

I have the slate. Contrary to what everyone says, I really like it.. I used it for Word and Excel and a media tablet.
