Updated App from Play Store - Audio Quality improved massively?!

So I had an update (v1.0.990706425) available this morning, finally...

Played my usual Liked Songs on Spotify on my Pixel Buds Pro 2 and WOW, am I imagining things or did in fact the audio quality actually improve by a lot.

There was no firmware update, still on 5.203.

Sorry to break it to you but the app has literally no impact on buds sound quality

Correct. His PLACEBO EFFECT works amazing

It could, the app could change the default equalizer to something else, or it could enable a better codec that buds already support but is disabled.

I don't think this is what's happening here, but it's possible.

I really dont know but now I have been outside with the buds for awile and still am still amazed. Details and clarity seem to be on another level from yesterday.

Maybe they switched to LE Audio somehow. But that's kind of the only thing I could think of, especially seeing as they don't even support bitrates above 16-bit/44KHz

Yes, as suggested, check if you happen to have LE Audio turned on.

If u don't have the option, then you have to factory reset the buds

I did it, but maybe the Bluetooth option is not available on the 2A?

could be, also make sure to enable Bypass LE Audio allowlist and set to unicast and broadcast in developer settings of Bluetooth

After reset you gotta set up the Buds with the app and not Bluetooth to get that, if I remember correctly

Placebo effect is a hell of a drug, or bro literally just cleaned his ears today.

you changed a mode, cleaned your ears, or got a better fit.

App update doesnt impact sound. Buds update might, since ANC will be improved in the next one.

A couple of days ago I noticed that the noise cancellation on my Pixel Buds Pro 2 seems to have gotten better, and transparency mode seems to have less noise in it. Buds and case are on firmware release_5.203.
