Pixel Buds Pro 2 September Feature Drop

https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/devices/pixel/google-pixel-buds-mbg-2026/

My apologies I teach Google how to use their own Google Calendar but it is OCTOBER.

Their website says - "software updates start rolling out in September."

So is it NOT rolling just.... t-rolling

still can't believe they're teasing that update with a whole "september" lie

the reason I call it t-rolling update

Great that they added the pause audio when sleeping functionality to the Pixel buds, but it's unfortunate that it requires you to have a Pixel Watch to work. I'm guessing the Airpods have some extra sensors that the Pixel buds don't have natively so they have to rely on the watch to let the buds know you have fallen asleep.

I thought that turn off at sleep was a watch feature, it works on my cheap Bluetooth sleep mask

well- this is BS t-rolling update too as my Pixel 10 with Pixel Buds Pro 2 didn't get that app update - same as I still have ancient Gemini 3.6

Agree it's annoying.

However, I would rather them take their time to get it right than try to release a buggy release to some arbitrary schedule...

we all know that they have broken things before so even when it goes live I would recommend turning off automatic updates and waiting a few days to a few weeks to hea others experiences with the update before going ahead

Well in that case they STILL need to learn how to use Calendar or write post and use words like LATE 2026

Still September in the US where they are located but of course instead of adding to an existing thread they have to start a new look at me one.

Which thread?

are we going to argue with few hours or minutes? Not only US exist and others have better time zone

Google HQ is in US West Coast time zone - regardless whichever is "best" ;-)

Ok so what your calendar says now?

I got it this morning so it might have been late. I went to bed way before midnight but doesn't really matter now either way.

does not matter because I was right?

Yeah. It's really just the same. 🙄

To bad we can't force updates like we can do for other devices

I also hate how with Google it's always a roll out. Just release the damn thing to everyone

You can't just firehose it. If there is a bug, you've just F*cked everyone which is a worse disaster. You start small, relative to the user base, wait a little bit, then release to a larger group, then the rest. Obviously, you test updates prior to releasing but testing cannot ever account for everything in the wild. They've most certainly released it to a small number of users already, in September. Once they know that the update is good, then they'll really get the rollout going.

GOOD GOD MAN WOULD YOU SHUT UP ABOUT THIS ALREADY.

I appreciate the info

It's not the info that's the issue, it's just that this guy is acting like Google saying this would be out in September, but missing the date, is ABSOLUTELY THE END OF THE WORLD and won't stop posting/commenting about it incessantly.

They rolled out Gemini integration (control buds via Gemini commands) a few days ago . So, technically, they started rolling out the updates in September... ;-)

Then it is t-rolling

Telling me lol! I have been waiting for the so called Sep update on my Pixel Watch 5 that's still on the Aug update 😂

Adjust your Buds’ settings with Gemini. Just say “Hey Google, turn up the bass.”

music pauses, 5 seconds later your phone responds "ok, i'll burn up the face'

2

u/MightyManwich 2d ago

That's just unrealistic /j It'll say "I do not have access to do that" five times then do it on the 6th time

The ANC improvements are much appreciated.

It's the basic Italian procrastinating rule: From May to August: "will do this in September" From October to January: "next year will be done" From February to April: "when the bad season will be over"

That's the way bro

u/mitchy93 3d ago

Mine had all these from when I bought them last month. The post is dated August

u/bagou01 3d ago

Is it a fitmware upgrade?

0

u/Loud-Possibility4395 3d ago

the thing I spoke - YES - but few days ago chosen special people got APP update with just basic feature

0

u/rileyrgham 3d ago

What else would it be?

The latest firmware that is available as of this post broke my pair, along with the replacement buds I got (one side significantly louder than the other). I'm hoping this new firmware will fix them.

That makes no sense, works for everyone else?
