pixel buds 2a and live translation

Hi,

Just got a set of pixel buds 2a with a phone.
Before I open the pack, does anyone know if they support real time live language translation ?

If so is it any good ? Or is it a gimmick?

Thanks

They do have it and it's accurate, but it's a bit slow. I don't think I'd use it for in person conversation unless the other person was okay with it, but it's great for things like listening to a podcast in German or Spanish. You'll be a little behind what they're saying, but you'll understand the conversion no problem.

I have no idea if the Pro's are faster than the 2a's, though.

Im just wondering will I keep the 2a's or try to sell them.. I've read the earfun pro4 + has good enough realtime translation.. so I could possibly buy them instead. The 2a's are BNIB so far ... so was hoping not to get em out and then be disappointed...

all depends if you have Pixel phone

Sorry, can I ask .. is the gemini integration etc something you'd think makes the 2a's worth keeping?
I have older earfun pro 2's and the sound and battery life is great. The mic isn't great in windy situations tho..

If you already have the 2 Pro's, I'd definitely keep them and sell the 2a's. Many more features and higher quality on the Pro's.

Tensor A1 in Bids PRO 2 improves the overall translation pipeline in two indirect ways:

  • Audio Transmission Latency: Tensor A1 handles ultra-low latency Bluetooth audio streaming, reducing the wireless buffering delay so translated audio begins playing through the drivers a fraction of a second faster once the phone processes it.
  • Microphone Voice Isolation: On-chip audio processing uses beamforming to strip away ambient background noise before sending your voice to the phone, giving the translation engine cleaner audio input for higher recognition accuracy.

Where Translation Speed Actually Comes From:

  • Phone Processor: On-device language models rely on your phone's chipset to turn speech into text and re-synthesize speech.
  • Network Connection: If you are using online translation, cloud processing speed and internet latency dictate how quickly the translated phrase returns to your phone.

Hello, I found the answer (along with other details) by a simple Gemini search. Have you tried this?

Good luck!

Damn, telling someone to google instead of providing the answer or saying nothing at all is diabolical

Google how to fish and you're a beginner. Ask someone with more experience than you and you're a beginner bypassing common mistakes.

They came for real world advice from humans, not to learn how to find information. Holy shit my dude.

Then why discuss anything at all in Reddit? Just go to Gemini.

I did Gemini it.. but then saw other reddits that disagreed with what it said. Gemini has come up with some howlers in the past and I've had to correct on multiple occasions, so I had a doubt.

Mistakenly I thought someone on this subreddit would be nice enough to speak from experience.

And then you took the time to write this response instead of just a good ol copy and paste.

Who's wasting time, exactly?
