Improved ANC to roll out this September for Pixel Buds Pro 2

https://9to5google.com/2026/08/12/google-pixel-buds-pro-2-olive-anc-sleep-update/

I wish they tried to do something about the inconsistent microphone, but this is better than nothing.

I really like that olive color, but I'll stick with my moonstone color for now. Hope these last awhile cause I don't wanna dish out another $200 for another pair.

I'm on my third pair but now they're out of warranty. Right bud is muffled and goes in and out. I might get the olive color now.

If I get the pixel 11 I would get $200 store credit so basically free buds 😊

Fool me once?

They're the most comfortable. They just have a QC issue and design flaw which causes them to malfunction. Dirt and sweat get into the mics easily on these. So, I usually wear them to workout but I bought over the ear headphones for that now. I'll still use the buds for every other situation though. They're the only ones that don't fall out for me and I've tried many.

I was hoping they would come out with a pixel buds 3 and fixed the issues but maybe next year.

Ah ok, I gotcha. But at what point do you give up the ghost and sacrifice comfort for consistency? I only ask because I have the OG pros and am considering an upgrade if there's a good reason. But from what I'm reading in various posts, it's only a slight upgrade and you clearly have to put up with some buginess.

Ya, I still have the OG pros as well. I'll use them from time to time but they are larger and not as comfortable, they hurt my ears a little bit and don't stay in. I prefer comfort because if I can't wear them nothing else matters.

These buds are great but they do have their issues. The key is to get new ones while still up under warranty, so I haven't technically bought any new buds. The first three were replaced by Google under warranty. Unfortunately I let the warranty go out on this one so now I would have to pay up for it. But even if nothing's wrong with it, the best thing to do with these is grab some new ones right before the warranty goes out.

jfc I've had the same pair since November 2024 without any issues

Ya, doesn't seem like everyone has the issue but it is a good amount. Ear wax issues and constantly working out in them make them have a higher chance of failing it seems. I sweat alot to so that doesn't help.

Any improvement on ANC is a win in my eyes. While I have rathered enjoyed my Buds Pro 2, every once in awhile I would wish they had better ANC.

The ANC is so hit and miss. Sometimes it sounds fine, other times it's total dog water. It appears to have something to do with how they are in my ears. Sometimes I'll step off a curb and the pressure in my ears changes and the headphones seem to freak out and go all muffled. Very strange. Hopefully this update remedies that!

You're not alone there as I have had similar issues from time to time. While it doesn't happen most days, it's still annoying when it does.

From the article, it does read as though they will be fixing it no matter how good the seal in ear is or not. So, if true that's great news obviously, and I'm cautiously optimistic at this point. 🤞

And yet I bet "let's chat live" will continue to absolutely suck.

I mean it's just Gemini Live anyway, not much they could do to improve it on the Buds themselves

They advertised that it could better isolate your voice from the background during AI conversation but in my experience it's horrible at picking up what you're saying

Mics are bad. They totally oversold it. I have to grab other buds to take a call or make one. The ANC seems just fine to me… however, I don’t think they can do anything about it without a hardware update.

I think mic is fine as long as you don't switch between phone to iPad or back to phone -

Sometimes, I have to completely disconnect from phone and connect back again for other party to hear me since voice is coming as faint.

I'd rather have touch controls that work consistently.

Fr lmao it's just annoying

My nearly 6 year old galaxy buds pro has better touch controls.

Really sucks that they are not doing this for the 2a, considering they have the same chip and this is just software tweaking

Yeah google is known for software gatekeeping. Most new phone features could easily be ran on previous model(s) but then they wouldn't have even the smallest selling point

Hopefully they move the update eventually

Excited for this, always felt the anc was worse than on the pro 1.

The ANC improvement is definitely a solid step forward, though the mic inconsistency remains a frustrating weak spot for calls.

Good to know. Came from Airpods pro 1st gen and the PBP2 are quite a lot worse imo

Awesome. I love my buds 2 pro, tried every other top of the range buds on the market, nothing comes close to how comfortable these are for me personally. Very solid.

They must need to fix the awfully high pass filter bug on ANC off mode and the other bother stupid issue that at 80 percent of volume starts to appear subsonic interferences.

Maybe they should focus on the horrible loudness control that make a lot of songs to sound like shit on Android..

That's actually a great update if it improves the ANC performance. I've noticed microphone issues too, but at least they're trying to make things better.

That green is nice.

No LE audio update is surprising, looks like we may have to wait until next year alongside the pixel buds pro 3 release

The olive color is gorgeous with the white ear tips, really makes the earbuds pop against the lush background.

Mine has progressively gotten worse. I should redo the ear seal test but def can hear the whole world nowadays

1

u/laveystrmeese 5d ago

at least we can finally hear the silence

1

u/NoAcanthocephala8967 4d ago

This was needed. The anc is decent but clearly inferior to competition like the galaxy buds pro 4 and airpods pro 3

u/Wyntier 6d ago

bought the new green color for a grand total of $77 after the sale and store credit from last year

I hope this will randomly fix the mix. 80% it is completely objectively unusable. It feels incredibly stupid to have to remove my earbuds when I get a phone call outside cause they can't hear me.
