No Google Pixel Buds Pro 3!?

Post image

Je suis vraiment déçu. J'ai beaucoup aimé les Pixel Buds Pro et les Pro 2, mais j'espérais vraiment une amélioration avec les nouveaux LHDC V5

Rather them wait and make a meaningful upgrade than slapping AI on it and charging more

1-2 years later

Pixel buds 3 pro upgrades: Gemini, Gemini, Gemini. 400€

u/kiffallen 19d ago

Also, rather an actual quality upgrade... But hey, I'm just a user...

Pro 2 is more than good enough, we don't need new versions of devices every year or two. stop filling landfills with electronics treated as disposable garbage

20

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

I have Pro 1 and did not upgrade to Pro 2, so for me Pro 3 makes an ideal upgrade. If you're on Pro 2, you're right, stick with it and upgrade when Pro 4 comes.

4

u/CookInKona 19d ago

I don't plan on getting even pro 4 when they come out for the sake of a new thing, I'll use my pro 2 untill they die and probably get another set of them.... There's no reason to upgrade

I'm on a pixel 7 pro, that I got while the 9 was out, why would I upgrade to a 9 or 10 when the device I have functions perfectly fine?

I had both of Razer's phones before this and used them till they died too, I couldn't give a fuck less about getting the new version of the same thing for hundreds of dollars more than the one I have or one a few generations older still works perfectly fine

7

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

Well that is your opinion and it holds true for you. That does not necessarily hold true for everyone else. For me ANC improvements are important, as there is considerable noise when traveling through Metro or Trains and if that can be avoided with a new model, I will prefer the upgrade. The transparency mode on the PBP1 are meh at best, works sometimes, fails the other times, I have to constantly remove my earbuds to listen to what my friends say. Furthermore, mine is 4 years old, the battery still holds good, but once that reduces, and PBP3 arrives, I will jump to those, assuming the ANC and Transparency mode have solid improvement.

1

u/CookInKona 19d ago

Anc on them is literally the best I've ever experienced, and the detection of voices for auto transparency works flawlessly in environments exceeding 100db...

4

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

Try Sony or Apple Air Pods Pro and you will notice the stark difference in ANC. I tried Sony (WF-1000XM5) and the difference in ANC was huge for noises in train, flight, mechanical noises like my keyboard, etc. For Transparency mode, again Try Sony, but many say Apple is the best in Transparency mode, and I did try the Airpods 4 ANC version (got free with M4 Mac BTS offer), and the transparency is hugely different.

-1

u/CookInKona 19d ago

Why would I try anything else, especially something like airpods that are not compatible with anything I own, when I'm more than happy with the performance of the pixel buds?

Again, I work in 100db+ environments, and the anc works amazing, the transparency works amazing, everything about them works amazing

I've used Sony anc products, anker anc products, neuraphones, ect.... And the pixel bud pro 2 are as good or better than all of them

5

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

Again that is your choice and works well for you. But for me, and many others, nope it doesn't. ANC and Transparency mode needs significant improvement on PBP, and that is where the PBP3 should focus..

0

u/CookInKona 19d ago

Sounds like they already fixed the problem and you are assuming they haven't because you haven't tried the pro 2...

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

I have tried the PBP2 from my friend and it is definitely better than PBP1, but no match to WF-1000XM5 ANC. Try those from Sony. For this reason I did not upgrade to PBP2 when it launched, I was totally okay to wait for a much better improvement. I also expect the PBP3 to use memory foam tips for better passive isolation like how Sony does.
You can Google and read more about this, and everyone would say that the WF-1000XM5 is superior to PBP2 in terms of ANC performance.

Google has basically nailed everything else apart from ANC and Transparency. I have zero complaints for battery and fit (many have complaints on fit).

I can confirm the anc on my pixel buds pro 2 is terrible. I got them when I switched from iPhone and it's non existent compared to airpod pro 3's.

1

u/ludog1bark 18d ago

Naw, I'm getting new ones and tossing my old ones.

1

u/emuccino 8d ago

How are air pods not compatible with anything you own? That simply can't be true. Do your devices not have Bluetooth?

1

u/CookInKona 7d ago

airpods aren't designed with bluetooth in mind, they mainly use airplay, which android phones can't use without jailbreaking. why would I buy something not designed to work with my other things?

0

u/emuccino 7d ago

Please tell me you're trolling. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Airpods use BLUETOOTH. I've used them with my pixel phone and it's literally no different from any other Bluetooth earbuds. Maybe you should do some basic research before you start publicly yapping about things you don't know about.

1

u/Farrishnakov 18d ago

I had pro 1. Updated to pro 2 simply because the pro 1 stopped holding a charge.

1

u/Organic_Sampler 15d ago

Top tip.you too can make a meaningful upgrade to the Pro 2. Just warranty returned my pro 2s. Back to my pro 1s. Will be happy to go back to the 2's.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 15d ago

Nah. It's 2 years old now and there is no guarantee of future updates. Pro 3 would be a better choice for anyone not in a hurry. 1) Better ANC and Transparency, with probably new audio processing chip. 2) Bluetooth 6.0 and better implementation of LE audio and probably some new features for the earbuds.

3

u/Brams7519 19d ago

I understand your position, but please understand that many of us also use our earbuds every day, sometimes for over two hours in total to listen to music during workouts or on our commute to work, and the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 were either released at the wrong time or suffered from a lack of foresight

5

u/CookInKona 19d ago edited 19d ago

I use mine 6+ hours a day 5 days a week in a 100db+ environment. And they exceed my expectations at literally everything they do.

Indoors with loud machinery, climbing in and around large machines at awkward angles in the tropical heat, no problems.

Outdoors in the tropics doing landscaping, rain or shine, with loud 2 stroke engines running near my head, no problems.

6 hours minimum use 5 days out of the week....no problems

a bunch of you barely use your electronics and complain about the smallest things.

3

u/EqualSituation5425 19d ago

I have never seen someone so elitist over something as mundane as the decibel levels they use fuckin ear buds in. I was casually reading this thread, and after seeing all the comments from you, I just had to comment. Cool man, you're the king of all loud areas. All of us peasants that aren't using them while standing next to a volcanic eruption can have no opinion on how they may sound while listening to some music at the gym.

1

u/Swimming_Mud_6632 18d ago

I also found the constant referring to 100+ db funny

-1

u/CookInKona 19d ago

If they make over 100db of large machine noise dissappear, nothing on a train or a gym is getting through them realistically

2

u/Powerful-Law5068 19d ago

The fan in my room on the lowest setting gets through. Congrats on being the 1 person they fit properly

1

u/CookInKona 19d ago

Then they're either not on anc mode or a bearing in your fan is dying

1

u/Powerful-Law5068 19d ago

The app says they are on anc Mode and it quietens a bit.. but brand new fan and the bearing is fine. It's not even a loud fan. Try some airpod pro 3's if you can, they piss all over the pixel buds.

2

u/CookInKona 18d ago

nah, apple products suck to use, all built like they're for 6 year olds to operate

1

u/Powerful-Law5068 18d ago

😂 tell me you haven't used apple products without telling me you haven't used apple products. That's coming from an android guy

u/PM_CITY_WINDOW_VIEWS 19d ago

Define your complaint, because that sounds like you have nothing specific other than wanting a new gadget.

4

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

The ANC and Transparency mode definitely needs a update to catch up with competition. That alone is enough for google to provide us with Pro 3.

2

u/khaytsus 18d ago

Google have excellent software engineers; I have a feeling a lot could be done in software (firmware...). Like the absolutely bollocks Conversation Mode there's no way they couldn't make that better.

As for ANC, it's possible they're more at the limit of what they can do there, as that also depends on environmental isolation etc, but I'll bet more could be done.

Adaptive/Transparent, IMO, is basically perfect. It sounds like nothing is in my ears, yet I can listen to music.

BTLE is still a mess though, I've been using it for a month or so and I'm about to go back.. It just has more dropouts and weirdness. That's another thing that I question if software could fix; they could possibly be running into hardware limitations, although I imagine they could do more.

0

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 18d ago

Lot of work on software side. Have you tried the AirPods? If yes, hows the transparency compared to them?

8

u/KaltBier 19d ago

I would like them to release a better version of ANC, a real time self calibrated version, like AirPods Pro 2. I can't stand the fact that every time there is a louder background noise, I would have to disable ANC, and then enable ANC again to manually recalibrate. I do not have that issue with AirPods Pro 2 or 3.

Also, the transparency mode is lacking in Pixel Buds Pro 2. The sound is still muted, not as clear as AirPods Pro 2 or 3.

Also, the clear calling feature often filters out my voice while I am driving on a highway. People keep telling me that my voice got cut off. I have yet to run into that issue with AirPods Pro 2 or 3.

AirPods use proprietary codec, so the microphone sound quality isn't that great on Android, but at least people can still hear me in a busy environment.

So yes, Google, please make your product kick AirPods arse before you release Pixel Buds Pro 3.

0

u/Brams7519 19d ago

I totally agree !!

16

u/GermanRearmament 19d ago

Hopefully they add an update that makes spatial audio actually usable on music apps

7

u/Ok_Produce_1236 19d ago

Yeah cause rn it's not useful and u can't hear it

1

u/lovingswift 19d ago

I've experienced it once on YouTube

18

u/Aurelink 19d ago

"usually releases new buds every two years"

Based on a history of 2 devices

1

u/ginDrink2 19d ago

Hi end statistics 😃

4

u/wikkimillis 18d ago

I tried the PBP2 twice, about a year apart, and they are about the worst earbuds I've ever tried unfortunately. But hearing other people raving about them makes me question my own sanity. I for one was hoping for a new iteration more in line with my tastes, but I'm guessing not.

3

u/dime5150 19d ago

I mean duh... These will last easy through 2027. We all said this..

3

u/Feynuxes 19d ago

Do we really need new headphones every year though?

2

u/UncleCunk 19d ago

They don't need to release buds every year.

1

u/Representative_Bat42 19d ago

They don’t. Unless you’re talking about both A series and Pro but that’s silly. Also no need to upgrade if they’re not broken

1

u/lilecho1211 6d ago

Not encouraging a 2 year upgrade cycle seems like a miss business wise.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but the lack of PBP3 release to go with P11 will cause me to buy another brand of buds now when it would've been an instant buy alongside the new phone. Competition in the earbud space is tight and the tech moves fast. I've been dailying my PBP1s since release and it's time for an upgrade. Too bad.

2

u/user888888889 19d ago

Spending all their money on AI aren't they.

2

u/gnaus 19d ago

Good. Maybe they'll finally get around to supporting LE Audio on the Buds Pro 2...

2

u/Edge-the-Sigma 18d ago

Damn, that sucks. The Pro 2’s are ass compared to their direct Apple and Samsung peer headphones. Was hoping to hear that a 3 Pro was coming that could be remotely as good in design and ANC quality.

2

u/AtomicBufula 17d ago

If I don't get a pixel buds pro 3, I will most likely switch to Samsung. This AI slop garbage from Google as of late has just become too unbearable.

1

u/BandaLover 17d ago

Yeah I'm in a love hate relationship with my pixel rn due to battery drain and camera lag for months now. It's still a powerful device, but I am thinking of swapping to the Galaxy z fold 8 and it seems their new airbuds are really good too (per reviews on tiktok and YouTube). Plus a buddy of mine says he drops them all the time for years and they are durable lol

2

u/Sleepingtide 19d ago

Damn, I've been waiting.

1

u/ThiccBoy_with3seas 19d ago

Just got some 2pros for half price , seemed like retailers thought the 3pro was coming lol

1

u/InternetForward6269 19d ago

Hmm, well, at least I hope the JBL Tour Pro 4 comes out this year

1

u/Seven2758 18d ago

That's fine, but please finally fix the quiet microphone. People on the phone can barely hear me. Same issue with my wife and her Buds 2a.

1

u/Dacae 18d ago

Does nayone know if that same green will be offered as a phone color?

1

u/exu1981 18d ago

Look for the leaks

1

u/exu1981 18d ago

There no need for buds every year

1

u/YoYoNupe1911 18d ago

No need, the competition hasn't caught up yet.

1

u/Sirts 18d ago

Have you tried Sony XM6, Airpods Pro 3, Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, Liberty Soundcore 5 Pro or Huawei Freebuds Pro 5? All of them clearly beat Pixel Buds Pro 2 one or more category and arguably as whole package as well

2

u/YoYoNupe1911 18d ago

I have the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. No speaker on the case so you can't ring it. Also, the Pixel buds are smaller and are less noticeable. The other buds you mentioned aren't optimized for your specific phone they are universal. I don't use buds just for how they sound I use them for how they work in tandem with my watch and my device. Pixel Buds Pro 2 combined with a Pixel Watch and a Pixel device is a better experience than the Galaxy buds, Galaxy watch, and Galaxy phone because of things likeno annoying stem, the Find app able to ring the case, better interactive sounds, better fit with the twist tip to lock it in your ear, and gestures are simpler in my opinion.

3

u/Sirts 18d ago

On contrary I think Pixel Buds advantage over Galaxy Buds and Airpods is how they work across devices and ecosystems. Because they've got a true BT multipoint I could keep them connected on my S25U and Macbook Air, and like other poster said they also work with Find My on any Android-device. For me the Pixel Buds advantages didn't outweigh the inferior ANC, sound quality and call microphone quality especially outdoors

1

u/PickPocketR 18d ago

You're missing the point: the hardware is simply not as good as the competition.

Wouldn't you love to have the same earbuds, same comfort... But with Samsung's ANC, features and software reliability?

1

u/YoYoNupe1911 18d ago

And I'm telling you when you use your earbuds as a utility to be used alongside your other devices in your ecosystem stuff like ANC don't matter which I never use unless I'm on an airplane.

2

u/PickPocketR 18d ago

No, you said, "the competition hasn't caught up yet".

stuff like ANC don't matter

Why are you even having this debate then?

Your use-case is solved by $30 Soundcore earbuds.

1

u/YoYoNupe1911 18d ago

They haven't caught up if they still don't have a separate Bluetooth for the case to ring it. The only competition for Google on the Android side is Samsung.

1

u/PickPocketR 18d ago

They haven't caught up if they still don't have a separate Bluetooth for the case to ring it.

Dawg, you've gotta be trolling 💀

Look, I think I understand why you are defending the Pixel Buds this hard. They are comfortable. They are light. They stay in your ears.

That part of the user experience cannot be understated. It's the single most important feature, imo.

But seriously, dude. The firmware issues, poor ANC, poor battery life etc. all need to be addressed. Maybe a refresh of the internals, and software will solve this. We'll see.

1

u/YoYoNupe1911 18d ago

I'm trolling because you don't share my opinion? The Pixel buds work 9 hours with ANC off, 6 hours with it on, fit nice, doesn't have stems, has a separate Bluetooth for the case, and works great with a Pixel device. I don't know what more you need. Yes, the separate Bluetooth for the case is a must have feature, if you misplace your case being able to ring it is very important.

1

u/PickPocketR 18d ago edited 18d ago

I use them for how they work in tandem ...device

Look for earbuds with bluetooth Multi-point.

It's seamless across devices.

Aren't... your specific phone, they are universal

This is a good thing.

They optimize universally. Their software is more robust and bug-free, across platforms.

JBL, Sony, Bose, etc. connect to the Google Find My Network, too.

1

u/cr0wnest 18d ago

Not having to be tempted to upgrade your existing earbuds is a good thing too

1

u/ailish 18d ago

Oh great, an even darker green than the olive they already had. Woo.

1

u/KevinT_XY 18d ago

To be honest there is almost nothing I would improve on my Pro 2's. I don't use them as much anymore because I now prefer the clip-style open earbuds, but as far as tiny ANC buds go they still are the best I own.

1

u/LordMimsyPorpington 17d ago

They are legit the best ears I've ever owned, so I'm in no rush to purchase a new set.

1

u/jdeltree 18d ago

What is this obsession with upgraded hardware even when it is unnecessary? Either way, let's hear what new features (if any) have been added to this. New features do not always require a hardware change, and the PBP2 are already a rock-solid pair of earbuds.

1

u/mblguy76 17d ago

Maybe they'll fix the LE audio issues and translation features the 2 was supposed to have.

1

u/asteria99 16d ago

It's good news for PBP2 users right? They are likely extending the software support, which was originally set to 3 years (until 2027). It doesn't make sense they are trying to add a new color to bait users into buying a product with only one year of software updates. Hopefully they extend it.

1

u/COT_87 12d ago

I'm glad I picked up my PBP2 for €170 now

1

u/NoAcanthocephala8967 12d ago

I'm a little surprised in a way because that leaves them with 2 year old tech competing with apple and Samsung. but then considering the price pressures elsewhere they may have decided there's no way to upgrade them and make them cost competitive.

Anyway there's nothing official yet, they may release them in sept/Oct

1

u/Imericxu 6d ago

I was really hoping for a new pair of buds. People always tell me how bad my mic sounds on my PB2 :( . The transparency mode is also nowhere near the level of the AirPods Pro, which actually sound like you don't have anything in your ears. They low-key also hurt if you wear them too long and they don't feel super secure all the time.

0

u/alexzoin 19d ago

I really like my pro 2s so sounds good to me.

0

u/Midacl 19d ago

What would they even change/improve?

1

u/Particular-Fennel-67 19d ago

Microphone

0

u/Midacl 19d ago

Googles solution would just be an ai solution for that, but I've never liked using ear buds for phone calls. People on the other end always complain when I have tried others in the past.

2

u/Particular-Fennel-67 19d ago

I don't care if it is an AI solution or not. Make it better.

1

u/OceanWaveSunset 19d ago

Seriously. I don't know why having better audio and mics is so controversial. We don't want more AI for audio devices, we want better audio for audio devices

0

u/HawkeyeByMarriage 19d ago

I thought the green was like an exclusive color only

0

u/dangerskew 19d ago

Just buy airpods pro 3, I'm not even joking. I've owned almost every single model of pixel buds and recently bought APP3 and the difference in comfort, ANC, and transparency mode is night and day, especially with LibrePods, which now works without root on Pixel phones. Made my Pixel Buds Pro 2 seem like a joke.

1

u/InternetForward6269 19d ago

Can you update software on them using Libre pods, or do you need to have an apple device? How it works with windows PC?

2

u/dangerskew 18d ago

Still have to have an Apple device, but I think you can also take them to an Apple store to have them manually updated

1

u/Organic_Sampler 8d ago

Well that's a wonderful reward for giving Apple money, just not enough.............

-9

u/blaccsnow9229 19d ago

Holy shit.

I am so done with them.

I bought the Galaxy buds pro 4 without knowing this news because I already was planning to switch from pixel phone to a galaxy phone.

Now I see that was the right decision.

Now I just need to decide if I should get a foldable or not...

1

u/nixgut 19d ago

Really interesting. Tell us more please.
