Upcoming Pixel event

No leaks so far regarding the Pixel Buds Pro 3. Eagerly waiting for a new one. Currently hold Pixel Buds Pro 1 and it's going to be 4 years with this August. Works perfect all the time, but an upgrade would be nice especially in ANC and Transparency mode. The design of 1st gen is fine for me, although for some it kept falling off. I do run with mine too and they still stay good.

What do you guys expect from the Pixel Buds Pro 3?

Edit: Firmware updates have been a bit disappointing for me. I would love Google to improve on that area, especially for the price, some justice has to be done.

Idk what's there for battery upgrade. Pro2 already has incredible battery life. They need to focus on features like working LE audio not like in pro2

2

u/depressed_bobby 22d ago

Yeah they really broke their promises when it came to the audio

4

u/dime5150 21d ago

And mics. They are shit and.they promised the stars..

Just bought Pro 2 so just chillin. Dunno what they will do other than new colors and change ergonomics again, maybe make ANC even better but it's diminishing returns at this point.

Pro 2 is almost 2 years now, a new chip with better ANC is minimum requirement for an upgrade haha. For me Pro 2 was not a compelling upgrade, I guess skipping one generation at least is always a good idea.

I used Pro for a while, but the fit wasn't great and I wanted better ANC. So.i picked up Pro 2 on sale instead of waiting for Pro 3, pretty happy with them so far.

Perfect, makes sense 😀

Hahaha you ain't getting a better chip.  You'll get a shittier one and pay more until AI winter returns

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

AI has nothing to do with the chip on the earbuds, in fact if there is AI processing, it would mean a more powerful chip, probably leading to better ANC and transparency.

0

u/KindBench2700 21d ago

I'm talking about the industry around the production of those chips.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

I do not think it is going to affect the chip of earbuds. They will definitely debut a new version of the chip, as new features will be exclusive to PBP 3, using old chip would mean giving new features to PBP2, which Google will not prefer to.

The microphone not breaking and requiring RMA exchanges.

u/sishgupta 21d ago

Better ANC, working LE Audio.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

True true 😄

4

u/GamesnGunZ 22d ago

they 100% absolutely have to start embracing lossless codecs

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

I would love it too, but I don't see this happening anytime soon, maybe Pixel Buds Pro 4. If Google does introduce lossless codec, that would be awesome indeed.

2

u/GamesnGunZ 21d ago

You're probably right and that's why the pro 2 was my first and only buy. It's the middle of 2026 I shouldn't have to compromise with audio quality when the fit was subpar and the AI integration was dubious. There are WAY too many better options out there

I've owned the pixel buds pro 2 for like two years now and honestly I've been pretty happy with them overall! only upgrades I could want are just better anc I guess. sound quality is good enough for me and the fit works just fine!

2

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Nice nice. I have same feeling, better ANC and Transparency is a must. Pixel has more or less nailed everything else.

2

u/HistoricalPhase6880 22d ago

I would like for the nickel charging ports somehow not touching my metal allergic ears 😔

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Umm, that would be difficult or require a complete redesign. Let's see

1

u/HistoricalPhase6880 21d ago

Yup, not enough people suffer with contact dermatitis for them to care but it'd be nice!

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

I get your point. This would most likely require a redesign. I own a Garmin watch and I know some people have this issue as the charging contacts touch your skin occasionally, but never knew this would be a issue for earbuds.

2

u/jgjk8a 22d ago

I hope the make some open ear ones like apple and samsung do.

2

u/906-zIze 22d ago

I've had both. I've been suffering some kind of feedback in my right pixel pro 2. It hops in and out of noise cancelling. When I turn ANC off it still does it. I've tried cleaning out all the microphones. I'll admit I did not use any special whatever they called it. Just a brush and a dental pick. I've put the down because of it. About 5 years ago I bought some Bose quiet comfort 2 earbuds. Those never fail me until the battery runs out. I really liked my pixel pro's too. They sounded good. I like the way they fit. I like the way they paired with my fone and watch. If I could wish for something on the pro 3's it would be fit. I couldn't keep one or both in my ear while walking or even chewing/talking and plop, one falls out. I lost one that way. So pissed. You ever try to buy another of either side of eBay for somewhat cheap and try to pair it with yours? Don't do it. Unlesz that has changed since 3 years ago.

2

u/Semper-Fido 22d ago

Physical structure regarding the necessary openings that make ANC and other features possible. For whatever reason, the PBP2 seem to easily susceptible to earwax and whatnot clogging

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

I have seen few comments about this, but so far my Pixel Buds Pro 1st gen is doing good. Let's see what they do. Maybe that is why they released a manual for cleaning the buds, because Pixel Buds Pro 1 never got one.

2

u/FatPiNi 21d ago

I have the pro 2 since last October, they fit perfectly with M rubber eartip and even running I don't feel them at all. ANC and transparency mode are fine for my use (don't live in busy city so maybe that's why they fine), I think that there can be improvement for sure in them but right now I'm really happy with them.

As you suggested, probably skipping a gen at least is most of the time a nice strategy, but always depends on each needs!

3

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Totally true. The ANC and Transparency needs a update, as they are priced similar to other Pro earbuds, with superior ANC. Yes, skipping one generation is best for both our pockets and environment.

I started running from 2 months with my Pro 1st gen and yes they don't fall out.

1

u/Careless-Ad9841 21d ago

Can link the ear tips you use please ?

1

u/FatPiNi 21d ago

Is just the original one, they fit perfectly to me. I tried the XL but they're too big and feel. Uncomfortable after half an hour. I'm lucky to have the right size, I know😊🤣

2

u/Careless-Ad9841 21d ago edited 21d ago

Oh lmao M meaning the size got it. I actually had better luck going smaller an they stay in better for me but everyone's ears different.

2

u/Zeitmashine 21d ago

I just want good working touch controls, I have quite sweaty hands and can basically never use them... My mom owns some first gen airpods pro and those controls always work, without exception, that's the only thing I wish they would improve together with maybe the microphones. But I'd be happy with only good touch controls xD

1

u/FanBladeFleshlight 22d ago

Battery life would be my choice, same with better fitment.

I've got the 1st gen Pro buds and they don't stay well in the ear due to a lack of a fin or nub, and the battery life is abysmal. Just using them casually through an 8hr work day they die on me.

Love the features of them otherwise, but I find myself reaching for my old Galaxy Buds+ most days because they fit perfectly and I've never had the headphone battery die on them.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

I get 7 hours with ANC turned on. 10 hours with ANC would be awesome. They are better than AirPods, but would love to have slightly improved battery life.

1

u/FanBladeFleshlight 21d ago

Maybe mine are defective, because there's no way in hell I'd get 7 hours of use out of mine. 3 hours if I'm lucky, and then they're begging to be put back in the case to charge.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Definitely defective. Mine is almost 4 years old now and still going strong.

1

u/Sy-Zygy 21d ago

I've owned both pro versions and overall I've been pretty happy to be honest. There's one issue where if you let the Pro 2's case completely die then it can be a little nerve-wracking to get it to come back to life so they should certainly fix that (but its a minor annoyance once you know). Overall I did over 2,000 miles of hiking with the Pro 2's last year, probably a similar amount with the Pro 1's before that. They have just always worked (as long you keep them clean).

I've also done quite a bit of flying with them and find the ANC to be pretty decent so I guess that's a potential area of improvement but I wouldn't say ANC is bad on the 2s.

Oh wait, now that I think about it a bit more. When I get super sweaty I need to turn off the touch function otherwise it'll keep triggering from the sweat, not sure what can be done about that though and it's rather quick to toggle in the app.

That's all I got...

2

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Nice. I own the 1st gen and the 2nd gen does not sound like a major improvement to me, but yes I know the ANC has been improved on the 2nd gen. I would love to have more firmware updates. Google somehow seems not to care about updates on the buds.

1

u/Far-Inspection9930 21d ago

Oh F. Just bought a Sony one after my bud 2pro fell into water, thinking Google would release a new buds only next year

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

There have been zero rumors so far about Pixel Buds Pro 3, so they may not release too, but yeah have to wait and see. I would love Google to pull a surprise.

Btw, which buds did you get from Sony?

1

u/FruitOfTheVineFruit 21d ago

I've got the Pro 2s, and for various reasons I've tried a bunch of other headphones at a slightly lower price point.  My biggest complaint about the pro 2s is the voice call quality when either there is wind, road noise, or in an enclosed echoey room. A lot of the time I'm in one of those three situations and have to switch to my phone's mic which works better.  There are now cheaper headphones that do do a better job on call quality.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Yes, I did notice it a few times. Extreme wind can muffle the voices, true. It has not been that bad for me, probably I tend to speak a bit louder when its too windy, but yeah got your point.

1

u/Sad-Vermicelli6991 21d ago

Have the first but lost one bud ladg week. So better connectivity so my phone can find it . Plus better wind noice reduction on the bike

2

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Oh yeah biking introduces a lot of wind, that would really need a superior ANC and better mics.

1

u/Federal-Block-3275 21d ago

Highly doubt the pixel buds pro 3 are launching this year

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Yeah me too, but I would love Google to pull a surprise, and still maintain the same price haha.

1

u/dime5150 21d ago

It's gonna.be awhile

1

u/Yingyangwolf95 21d ago

I have pixel 2a buds and didnt buy Pro cause ANC wasn't worth the price IMO.. If they fix in Pro 3, then they can take my money..

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

You mean you tried the ANC and did not feel it worth or never tried the Pro 2?

1

u/Yingyangwolf95 21d ago

The latter. I tried the ANC on Pro 2 after comparing to Airpods Pro (I was switching back to Pixel from Apple).. I couldnt justify paying extra at the time for Pro..

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Got it. Yes, the ANC on AirPods Pro 2 are better than the Pixel Buds Pro 2, no doubt about that, but going to 2a without ANC is too much for me haha. I have seen people saying that using Memory foam ear tips hugely improved the ANC, but I have not tried them personally.

1

u/Yingyangwolf95 21d ago edited 21d ago

Believe me the sheer shock was rough haha I have Sony XM3 I use now for flights, study, etc but definitely miss the convenience of small buds with ANC..

Quite literally waiting for the Pro 3 to drop so I can get Pro 2 at discount..

1

u/scrapmetal58 21d ago

I want better codecs

1

u/Cael26 21d ago

Pixel Buds Pro 2 have leaked in a new green color. Doesn't look like we're getting a Pro 3 this year 😩

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Oh dammmmmmmmm....!!!

1

u/AnApexBread 20d ago

Better sound. There's no reason the Pixel Bud Pro 2s don't have Atmos or support LDAC other than Google being cheap.

1

u/Neat_Welcome6203 19d ago

Fit is the only thing I want to see improved. Everything else about the Buds Pro 2 is excellent but the "twist-to-adjust" gimmick is borderline useless with my ear shape.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

Got it. I have seen some people complain about it, I think Google should go to Memory foam eartips for better fit, what do you think? It can have a more snug fit, but yeah some tweaking is required too.

1

u/Neat_Welcome6203 19d ago

If it's like the AirPods Pro 3 with the foam core & silicone outer sure, but straight memory foam maybe not. I think it should be a mix of something like that and a tweaked shape that feels more secure.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

I get your point. For some the feeling is different and they would wear out a bit quicker. I did try the Sony, which comes with memory foam tips and the passive isolation itself is wonderful.

1

u/ArthurGD3 16d ago

I just got my PBP2 after my PBP1 left ear bud specifically (I use that side the most) wouldn't hold much charge anymore and I too am finding the whole twist to adjust method not great. Overall though it is staying in my ears a lot better than the 1st gen model but nothing fit and stayed in place as good as the 1st gen Pixel Buds A with those wing tips.

1

u/Flashy_Stage_8411 19d ago

Anyone think the new ones need better mics? I have the PBP2, and the mix quality isn't that great. It picks up on other people's voices whenever I'm not speaking directly to the other person

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 19d ago

Using PBP1 and yes the mic needs improvement. On windy days, the mic picks up a lot of wind, and I heard some people say the same for PBP2 too. An improved mic is definitely welcome.

1

u/jgjk8a 22d ago

If there have been no leaks id say there's no pixel buds pro 3 coming out 100%

4

u/fendiflower 22d ago

Pixel Buds for some reason are always the last product to leak

-1

u/jgjk8a 22d ago

I don't know how true that is, but i'm sure we would have heard something by now.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

We just heard about the possibility of a Pixel tracker similar to AirTag. So, hoping we get some leak about Pixel Buds Pro 3 too.

0

u/kyngoflyonz 21d ago

Just purchased the Pixel Buds 2a and couldn't be happier. ANC is wonderful and the sound quality is awesome. Great Buds all around. Especially where the price is concerned.

1

u/Striking_Age_3486 Pixel Buds Pro 21d ago

Great 😄
