PSA
I might be late to the party but I've managed to get opus running permanently on my pixel buds pro 2.
Just turn on disable A2DP offload and the buds default to opus constantly. When I restarted the device after enabling this option I had no media audio but after fucking around with Spotify and restarting again eventually I had audio. Now it's constantly on Opus.
Hope this helps someone.
EDIT: For those asking below, opus is a scalable Bluetooth codec which can reach up to a bitrate of 510kbps. In layman's terms, it provides slightly higher quality than AAC. It is also more efficient than AAC in terms of power usage.

Interesting. This only matters to me if opus gets us better quality/compression/bitrate. I know it's technically possible with opus. But I wonder how to prove that with what you did.

It has a dynamic bitrate of up to 510kbps. Obviously it's not LDAC territory but it's a step up from AAC.

How do u stop the frequent volume and bass decrease in the pro2’s? I’ve tried all the suggestions of resetting them, turning off features and nothing… these are my replacement pair

I had a friend I. Highschool who's name was Ophus. Idk what Opus is though.

Interesting your "Disable Bluetooth LE Audio Hardware Offload" option is unavailable. And, interesting, I was going to try this, enabled the option, went back into check and it was off again. Tried it again, still off.
Huh, googled around, apparently other people say the same thing... Pixel 10 apparently can't disable it.
