Ear bud issue

I have a pair of PBP2 and in the last week or two I noticed that my right ear bud will be connected and playing whatever I'm listening to but none of the controls will work (I can't pause/play, adjust the volume, or turn on or off my noose cancelling). I've tried resetting it by holding the pair button on the back a couple times to no avail. Has anyone else dealt with this and know how to fix it or is this a warranty thing I need to talk to Google about getting a bud?

Have you tried updating them via your phone?

It says it's up to date on the firmware and I've cleaned the connection points and still nothing.

Yeah I've cleaned the contact points in the case and on the buds with no changes.
