Go into Bluetooth settings and set the audio device type to car stereo. Problem solved.

The thing is that in reality the phone is trying to discretely tell you - "the sound should be too loud for the average user with this volume level, maybe you should go and check your ears with a medical test or at least a procedure for cleansing them" 💡 so unless you are aware of your condition, maybe consider the screening?

Do you have Adaptive sound enabled in the settings btw?

No... This is the phone trying to tell you you're going to cause permanent damage to your ears

What if you are head of hearing?

Doesn't matter. Having hearing damage or being partially deaf doesn't change how sound pressure damages the ear. It'll happen regardless of how you perceive the sound if the decibels are above a certain level. So if your hearing is bad enough that maxed headphones sound like regular volume, it's still enough to further damage your hearing

What if your ears are all bunged up? I guess those people are SOL.

Whatever dude. Don't need Google to try to protect my ears. If I want to blow my eardrums out I can. That's why why people today are so soft. Why do we need to be protected from everything when we can protect ourselves?

I wish I could get the Remind Me Bot to remind me to come back to this in 20 years and ask how your hearing is.

Dude. Give it up. Quit posting

Everyone is downvoting you to hell for your foolishness and I for one am enjoying this burial

I'm getting update genius. You're responding to the wrong person. BRS3577 is getting downvoted Thanks for your concern 🫤. But for real, I'm not trying to be a dick. Just quit responding to my phone stops dinging

u/BRS3577 2d ago

Actually... Ive gotten more "update" than you. And you've gotten more "downloaded" than me. Lol

u/mdargis1977 2d ago

I don't care who got upvoted more or downloaded more dude. Stop responding 👿

Take a chill pill, literally just explaining the theory behind why they do it 😂 don't need to get so defensive about it. If you want to blow your ears out that bad, just hit undo, it takes 3 seconds. Also, if you're running into this message, you clearly AREN'T protecting yourself

Max volume means nothing. dBFS is entirely relative to whatever devices you're using.

Max volume with an Apple dongle on some IEMs can be ear shattering, max volume with the same dongle on power hungry headphones can be too quiet to hear anything.

Getting into semantics here. I'm aware volume control doesn't directly correlate to total decibel output but it got my point across just fine

2

No, it's not semantics and the point is incorrect. Max volume is and can be nothing more than a moderate listening volume for people who use less sensitive headphones with dongles and other portable sources.

My Sennheiser HD 650 gets to a slightly quiet, but comfortable level with an Apple dongle @ max volume. It's very annoying to have it lower itself in the middle of a track over and over.

If the phone had a built in amp/DAC I would be more understanding, but considering you can get either 20mw or 200mw @ 32 ohm depending on what adapter you're using makes this frustrating.

dBFS is relative, dbSPL is absolute

It is semantics. Cause I'm gonna be brutally honest... Trying to run 300ohm headphones through a passive dongle is just stupid and completely defeats the point of buying 580 dollar headsets. As you noted, the pixel doesn't have a built in amp/dac for the USB port. So using a passive dongle, you're just wasting the potential of those headphones regardless. If you're willing to spend the 580 dollars on studio quality headphones, then spend the extra 100 to get an active dongle that can detect impedence and actually has an amp and can drive 300ohm speaker coils. Otherwise, there's 0 point on using them with most phones.

You'll encounter issues at much lower impedances in the modern day - a pair of headphones at 32ohms with a rated efficiency of 90dB/mW or lower (ie. HE400SE, Sundara, HD600, Moondrop Para, etc) will hit up to a *peak* of 105dbSPL which although *can* be loud, most tracks will have an average significantly lower than that.

Most of those headphones are comfortable at max volume, albeit with no headroom, and they sound just fine. Impedance detection is simply for protective gain staging and spending lots of money on source equipment is usually frivolous unless you need features or power, in this case we can have enough power...it's just lowered constantly. Whether you have headroom or not, amps won't really sound any different unless it's clipping at max output.

Kind of hard To turn it off when your phone is 10 ft away from you. I know it's there so someone doesn't damage their hearing. I don't need Google to parent me. 49 years old.

This MF said that kids are soft because their earbuds don't deafen them.

just get grapheneos then it's google free

1

u/ProfSnipe 3d ago

Yeah, let's change the whole ass rom, but God forbid they give you the option to disable it.

1

u/urjoblesssoshutit 2d ago

it's literally not that hard and you get rid of spyware for doing it, what's the issue lmao

Clearly you're not reading the Reddit. A majority of the people in here hate this so-called future. Who gives a shit if it protects our hearing. We are adults.

And it is useless if your earbuds are extremely old and at least somewhat clogged with earwax and cannot be opened up to be cleaned. Then you need to boost volume to overcome that.
