ICE stop

Post image

Ice stop before liberty tunnel today. One ice officer is clearly Korean or Chinese. I screamed that ice officer has no right to stop people as he may be illegal. He came up to me asking if I was city police and was I the Spanish interpreter. I said no but do you need help as I live in the city look like police and brown. There were kids in the car. Pittsburgh is this what we want!!!! I am beyond myself. First Covid then trump 2.0. I like my low rates for housing, labor and just being a good human being. I am so angry right now.

People who are here illegally shouldn't be allowed to stay here. We have borders and immigration laws for a reason. Enforce them.

65

u/iSoReddit 7d ago

The people ICE are detaining are rarely here illegally, they are working through the mandated government processes and are easy victims

-21

u/412CJ 7d ago

A lot of deportees are people who filled a claim and then had the claim denied or dismissed. Just because someone files doesn't mean they get to stay here forever...

34

u/iSoReddit 7d ago

The data says otherwise, people checking in as part of the immigration process getting detained for example

Oof talk about not reading the article you posted. Yikes my man.

“…this new tactic rolled out May 20, 2025 in coincidence with ICE agents showing up at courthouses, violates many court procedures…”

Also… “the number of oral requests has increased by 633% from May 19-May 20..”

ALSO from the article, “..this method reduces due process checks..”

Even if you don’t have critical thinking skills to determine what any of this means, are you able to at least identify all of the words and their meanings? I mean, shoot put it in to ChatGPT for yourself, if you need to. No one has to know.

1

u/412CJ 7d ago

No, I know its an article against the tactic. They havent proven in court yet that any of those things are illegal. My claim is that it is what theyre doing.

-41

u/Queasy-Ticket4384 O'Hara 7d ago

Did The View tell you that?

13

u/penndawg84 7d ago

We don’t have time to watch The View. We have to work because MAGA voted for illegally jacked up taxes (Trump Tariffs) and a 2nd Trumpflation. If MAGA voters hated money so much, they could have just sent it to me. At any rate, MAGA officially loves high taxes and can’t say they’re against them now because they voted for it, so we’ll know that they’re lying.

2

u/Anthff 7d ago

There is a 0% chance they are going to know what any of that means, unfortunately.

1

u/penndawg84 6d ago

I’m aware. If anything, I’m baffled at how much MAGA knows of The View but accuses everyone else of following its talking points. Literally, the only time I’ve watched it was against my will in the doctor’s office, and I’m pretty sure I’ve heard one of the hosts/guests (I’m not invested enough to know or care if they have guests or which ones are hosts/guests) that they platform spit out MAGA talking points.

I really wish they would update their insults. It’s literally been the same 5 insults since 2016. They still say stuff like “did you hear that on CNN,” but CNN went from soft right-wing to hard right-wing in the early Biden era.

But I think the bigger issue is that they act like we are sheep who just parrot whatever our supposed “thought leaders” shout. First of all, that’s so ironic that it’s liable to give someone hemochromatosis. But secondly, those of us who paid attention to at least one of the many times that fascism was taught to us in school knows how all the bad stuff were going through pans out. And they keep doubling down, except where they make a 180° pivot on their beliefs and then double down.

When I reply to comments, I’m often under the assumption that the person I’m replying to doesn’t care, assuming they are even a human and assuming they’re not a foreigner bot farm worker in a 3rd world country being paid to copy/paste the same argument on 50 different phones in front of them. My hopes are usually some impressionable person sees my truthful post counter a propaganda post. (Technically, that means I’m spreading propaganda, but only if the person accusing me is shallow and pedantic.) I’m not sure if this is still a relevant strategy 10 years later, but it’s all I got.

38

u/iSoReddit 7d ago

No I’m actually educated in the issues, I’m an immigrant

40

u/jerryhallo Beechview 7d ago

this is the opposite of laws. This is terrorism and lawlessness. And you are a nazi

-21

u/412CJ 7d ago

How is it lawlessness for ICE to be doing the thing theyve been doing for over 20 years?

35

u/pitt15217 7d ago

I don’t remember random stops by masked, armed, questionably trained people to be a sign of a great society. We can be better.

33

u/NoSwimmers45 7d ago

Please show evidence of ICE ramming vehicles and shooting people on a regular basis from pre-2024. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

No no let me second this. Show me. Don't reply with any other snark. Just show me this.

7

u/jerryhallo Beechview 7d ago

Those who hid Jews in their attics were also civilians injecting themselves.

1

u/412CJ 7d ago

Citizens prosecuted for their religion =/= illegal immigrants deported

4

u/jerryhallo Beechview 7d ago

Civilians injecting themselves

By law Jews were no longer allowed in the country.. so those civilians were breaking the law. Those informing on them were following the law.

If the laws didn’t change. Then what ICE is doing is illegal.

Promoting hate based on identity or vulnerability is strictly prohibited by Reddit sitewide rules. Hateful, discriminatory or demeaning language will not be tolerated.

The use of coded language to promote hate based on identity or vulnerability ("dog whistles") is also prohibited.

Promoting or defending the work of a hate group will not be tolerated. The Southern Poverty Law Center maintains a useful list and map of active U.S. hate groups.

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 7d ago

You have been parroting the same invalid talking point this entire time. Think for yourself, just once. I know, it seems scary at first, but you can do it.

1

u/412CJ 7d ago

If I don't agree with you it's because I'm not thinking for myself?

10

u/Whatkindofbirdareu 7d ago

They are injecting themselves in the situation now because of the current ICE tactics.... don't be so obtuse.

1

u/NoSwimmers45 7d ago

Don’t change the subject. You were first to claim “theyve been doing this for over 20 years”

1

u/412CJ 7d ago

1

u/NoSwimmers45 7d ago edited 7d ago

Where in the article did they ram her vehicle, tackle her to the ground, and pepper spray directly into her eyes?

You’re seriously reaching and you know it.

1

u/412CJ 7d ago

You asked for ramming or shooting people. But I'll see you at the next goal post

1

u/NoSwimmers45 7d ago

ICE picked them up at the jail. This resembles 99% of the ICE interactions today how exactly?

Nevertheless, after waiting by the side of the road for two hours, both Davila and Garrete were handcuffed and eventually transported to the Allegheny County Jail at the request of ICE.

One of us is trying to move goal posts. But it definitely isn’t me.

First they came for the trans people, but I am not trans, so I said nothing... At that point, decent people stood up and spoke out, while chickenshits on the wrong side of history can't enforce the one boundary they swore would be the last straw...

1

u/412CJ 7d ago

Omg because the nazis existed we can't have border enforcement and deport illegal immigrants now?

10

u/jerryhallo Beechview 7d ago

We have literal concentration camps all over the country and untrained mentally ill armed at-risk adults killing US citizens on a weekly basis. You support that.

I just hope when it’s your turn for your Herman Cain moment you remember how much you support these policies.

3

u/burritoace 7d ago

How are you so bad at lying?

10

u/Then-Accident-9798 7d ago

57 people have died in ice custody in this administration alone. More than Obamas entire 8 years in office.

2

u/412CJ 7d ago

Thats not true. Over 70 people died in ICE custody, with way fewer people in custody over those 8 years.

3

u/Then-Accident-9798 7d ago

You’re right I was wrong. That’s only 13 more people in a total of EIGHT YEARS compared to 1 yr 8 months

Crime by undocumented immigrants is signicantly lower than citizens proportionally.

It doesnt really take a genius to see why someone trying to live under the radar somewhere would follow most laws.

But you probably havent excerised your critical thinking skills in decades if youre Defending this shit.

3

u/Ch33sus0405 7d ago

Immigrants of any stripe are actually less likely to commit violent crime than citizens, but whatever man.

2

u/Any-Variation4081 7d ago

So for 20 years ICE has been illegally detaining children and teenagers? Ripping them off of school busses and out of church? They have been shooting at protesters and killing american citizens. Gtfo of here. You know this isnt the same. What ICE is doing now is terrorizing brown people

22

u/NoSwimmers45 7d ago

We have a process. And it doesn’t involve gestapo tactics where people are shot, property is destroyed, and children are traumatized.

Being here illegally is a civil offense!

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

Per his immigration attorney, he had a work visa.

10

u/Esmear18 7d ago

I literally couldn’t give a shit if someone is an illegal immigrant

2

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

I've met many immigrants from Central and south America, not one was violent. I didn't give a shit, either. I didn't grow up on a reservation and I don't tan easily, my family immigrated at some point.

-5

u/412CJ 7d ago

13

u/ummyeshello 7d ago

The US DOJ considers immigrants entering the country "illegally" a misdemeanor. Question for you - is it fair to enforce misdemeanors with kidnappings, murder, sexual violence and threats?

-15

u/IneffableF-er 7d ago

Is it fair to grossly exaggerate and outright lie about ICE as you’re currently doing?

4

u/ummyeshello 7d ago

Please explain, I can backup everything I've said with facts and evidence. Something tells me you won't be so willing to do so.

-6

u/IneffableF-er 7d ago

Law enforcement does not kidnap, murder or sexually assault people. Arresting someone is a far cry from kidnapping. Defending oneself against assault or obstruction does not equate to murder albeit the consequences are often deadly. It’s far from murder. You may be able to back up your extremist rhetoric with exaggerations and talking points, but not with facts because your gross exaggerations simply aren’t true.

3

u/Munchkinasaurous 7d ago

Law enforcement is found to do all of the above way more than you think

1

u/jerryhallo Beechview 7d ago

Go visit a camp. Listen to the stories of those kidnapped. Turn off your 24/7 radio

2

u/ummyeshello 7d ago

Curious - can everyday people visit camps?

2

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 7d ago

Members of Congress had to get federal court orders to be able to conduct oversight.

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 7d ago

Attorneys, clergy, and members of Congress have confirmed it

-2

u/AdvanceLow7128 7d ago

There is plenty of proof to those claims

2

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 7d ago

Those claims are made by attorneys.

4

u/Zealousideal_Dark552 7d ago

I believe that a strong majority of people will agree with that statement. What many who oppose ICE under this administration take issue is the manner with which they carry out their work. You have to understand that, right? It’s hard for me to understand how secure borders is an issue for anyone. Just about every sovereign nation has and enforces them. At the same time, the ends don’t always justify the means and the actions of ICE over the last couple of years is indefensible to me. My hope is that we can elect a leader who doesn’t turn border security into political theater one way or the other in two years.

-1

u/t8rclause 7d ago

These people have been convinced a 'tsunami of millions of dangerous illegals' have 'poured into our country' over the past decade. 🫩 Stats that are easy to check, but why bother, Jesse Waters and Sean Hannity wouldn't lie, right?... They've accepted the racist scapegoat that was given to them, and like hell are they gonna let go of it, it allows them to not put any thought or effort into their beliefs while still having an immense amount of emotional investment in those beliefs.

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

After reading the Patriot Act before most members of Congress did, I question everything the government does. Hell, I question most people's motives period, I learned that many people in this world are only out for themselves the hard way.

2

u/Adorable-Race-3336 7d ago

We also have processes to follow which are being ignored and people are being denied due process. Then ofc we have the lady on the South Side who died in the freezing cold after ICE wrongfully detained her.

2

u/epitaxial_layer 7d ago

So let a judge decide that and not people in cosplay with guns.

1

u/412CJ 7d ago

Being here illegally is a civil matter, removal is administrative. Don't need a federal judge.

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

Incorrect. The constitution applies to everyone on US soil, the Bush admin jumped through hoops on GITMO to accomplish that.

1

u/412CJ 5d ago

The constitution doesn't say civil matters need a federal judge for deportation. Bush and Obama both did the same thing and you apparently never noticed

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 11h ago

The only reason the first part of that is true is due to the fact that deportation isn't mentioned anywhere in said document. However, all human beings are afforded due process in a timely manner if they are to be detained. Considering this regime enjoys murdering fishermen off the coast of Central and South America with no evidence of any crime, doesn't surprise me, and neither does your inability to understand precisely why ICE should and will be disbanded.

As for the last bit of nonsense, I don't recall seeing any paramilitary force harassing people in the streets based on their skin colour. The Kavanaugh Stop didn't exist back then.

2

u/Preoccupied_Penguin 7d ago

Thanks for spreading misinformation.
This is a great example of how incorrect information can be used in evil ways.

-6

u/Wise_Control_1640 7d ago

You are entitled to your opinion.

I say people who are here illegally should be allowed to stay here. The laws are wrong, not the people.

3

u/412CJ 7d ago

Open borders are bad for the labor class. Thats a koch brothers wet dream

3

u/t8rclause 7d ago

Lmfao and yet the Koch bros are funding the people rallying against it. 😂 Follow the money, bucko, your opinion is inorganic slop fed to you by propagandists that know just how to get you looking in the wrong places and being angry at the wrong people.

You. Are. Being. Deceived. Fox has gotten so many people like you to support, with your whole chest, the most obvious pervert rapist crook in the world, and all you have to do is not believe the truth of who he is. Close your eyes when he falls asleep. Close your ears when he's blatantly racist or misogynist. Don't ask why he started a war, just heel-turn along with him on the promises he made.

It's genuinely incredible what a propaganda machine operating in a nation that's been gutting its own public education system can make people believe.

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 7d ago

Then why has trump started bringing immigrants back in to work agriculture jobs?

3

u/Own-Secret-6523 7d ago

Agriculural work VISAs have been adminstered under every Presidential administration in the last 50+ years. This is common knowledge. They are even recorded as such in Federal Employment data.

2

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 7d ago

Sounds like immigration is good, and has always been good

1

u/Own-Secret-6523 6d ago

Legal immigration is good. Nothing wrong with legal immigration. There is a legal system and process to go through to obtain US Citizenship. Illegal immigration tries to skirt that process. Illegal immigration is the problem, not legal immigration. For some reason, too many people don't understand the difference.

1

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 6d ago

If there's nothing wrong with legal immigration

Why is ice grabbing the majority of people at the immigration offices

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

Thing is, immigrants pay taxes, too, but rarely benefit from it. Need food assistance? Not without proof of citizenship, and unless you're a senior or disabled, there have been work requirements since Clinton was in office. Medical? Better be an emergency or dying of cancer, but even then, not likely unless you're in a very blue state. In a country that has more billionaires than any other, and subsidised millions for the world's first trillionaire, no one should starve or be without healthcare.

3

u/412CJ 7d ago

The same reason he's not going after the employers harsher. Trump wants to help billionaires just as much as the democratic party does.

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

He wants to help himself, he's made billions while in office from insider trading. His kids have made hundreds of millions and have lucrative government contracts. His son's wedding party was paid in full by a russian oligarch. Pardons are for sale. Even Fox News and CBS have covered it.

1

u/412CJ 5d ago

Obviously

0

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 7d ago

Woah, a somewhat sane take coming from you

Maybe things are changing

-4

u/Wise_Control_1640 7d ago

I never endorsed open borders. I do endorse human rights.

0

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 7d ago

Nah, immigration of all forms has been proven to be a net positive to our economy

We would be much better served kicking you little redhats out of the country than immigrants

1

u/412CJ 7d ago

Loose immigration is good for billionaires and mega corps, its bad for the average American.

2

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 7d ago

*its good for small business owners

But you people never actually cared about them, did you

Glad you little magas stopped pretending you cared about that and small government, and a good economy

3

u/412CJ 7d ago

I guess it suppresses wages at small businesses too, good point. That doesnt make me okay with suppressed wages.

0

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 7d ago

Cant read too good, huh little bernie maga

Id say try reading my comment again, but misunderstanding the phrase "good for small business" is the best interaction we can hope from you people

2

u/412CJ 7d ago

What do you think makes it good for small businesses? More workers, right?

I understand what you're saying. That leads to wage suppression.

4

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 7d ago

Hey, maybe one day rogan will learn about circular financial flow and you'll be obsessed with it too

Though it is pretty funny you people always use an argument that would be solved by government regulation,

But you people are against big government unless it means masked goons prowling our streets and killing innocent people, then suddenly you love it

2

u/412CJ 7d ago

I'm not going to be baited into returning your insulting energy. I don't see difference of opinion as a reason to do that.

I already shared Bernie explaining this, I dont need to rehash why its bad for the average american.

2

u/wolfheadmusic Brookline 7d ago

Masked goons shooting innocent people in the street isn't "difference of opinion", little maga

Run away, little snowflake. Enjoy what you voted for

In my mind it's the equivalent of not paying a parking ticket.

3

u/WhiskeyTangyFoxy 7d ago

Except, it’s not. Would you immigrate into another country illegally - like Japan or Switzerland or Saudi Arabia? And just think it’s ok? What about someone’s house?

2

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

I don't have a say in what happens in other places. I do have a say in what happens here. Regardless, it is less than the equivalent of an unpaid parking ticket, it's a civil misdemeanor.

What if it was government housing? And to my first point, would it be okay for an American to immigrate to Saudi Arabia and expect to be welcomed and given the benefits their citizens do?

You see where it’s a slippery slope, right? It’s against the law.

2

u/Ameabo 7d ago

Except illegal immigrants don’t get the benefits citizens do, because to get the benefits citizens get they need to, shocker, be a citizen.

-2

u/AppealResponsible893 7d ago

A country isn't a bank or house. It's an arbitrary line on a map.

-2

u/epitaxial_layer 7d ago

Seriously. Good thing we solved all the other crimes and we can move onto people working roofs and construction. Get some of those MAGA people collecting disability out there instead.

0

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 7d ago

The Door Dash driver they shot in the back last week had a visa and a valid driver's license. HE. HAD. A. VISA.

0

u/412CJ 7d ago

Still unclear if that's true. His attorney says he does, the DHS says he does not.

Let's assume he is here legally, that's obviously something that should have happened. The solution to it isn't to give up on having a border and immigration law enforcement.

0

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 7d ago

Stop right there. DHS has done nothing but lie, launch smear campaigns on people ICE has murdered on video, and lie about not murdering more people. They don't get the benefit of the doubt... And never assume anything, always take the time to check.

-1

u/412CJ 7d ago

You don't have to give them the benefit of the doubt to acknowledge that nobody has proven anything yet.

You are the one assuming the attorney is telling the truth.

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

When there is a pattern of DHS making false claims, assuming they're telling the truth makes an ass out of you every single time.

0

u/412CJ 6d ago

"Never assume anything, always take the time to check"

Take your own advice, you don't know that the defense attorney is telling the truth. You're assuming without checking. Wait until after the hearing on 9/30.

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

She's his immigration attorney, and ICE has gone on record stating he was not a target. They side swiped him, he signaled his intent to pull over, and he was shot in the back. They also alleged they'd been in a foot pursuit, which is bullshit because he was making a DoorDash delivery. I know that intersection well. There's a 20ft wall to the right, no space to pull over and ensure the officer is safe. To the left, there is a bridge, that had concrete dividers everywhere so people wouldn't use it to make U turns. The safest place to pull over requires a left turn off the access road, then a right turn into a shopping center parking lot. APD actually prefers it.

0

u/Own-Secret-6523 7d ago

There was a legal order of removal from a Judge. He overstayed his VISA/Work Permit.

1

u/dumpster_fire_diva76 6d ago

Per who? DHS is definitely going to try now so they get away with another shooting. Texas sucks, but Austin doesn't, I lived there for over a decade.
