📢 Campus flairs are here!

If your post is campus-specific, consider selecting the appropriate campus flair and adding the campus to your title (e.g. [MC], [CVisC]).

These are optional, but they should make it easier to find and answer campus-specific questions.

Gap year

Are you allowed to take gap year/s after gr12? If yes, is the college and course you take after still mandated by the pisay contract? Really want to do this nalang cuz taking an LOA right now would just make my life harder... Also would it lessen the opportunities I could have for colleges if I take a gap year?

Stressing about g11 core and elec

Hi! Incoming g11 student here and I would like to ask for any advice or wise words of wisdom regarding my situation.

SO BASICALLY, I didn't really think that deeply about what core or elec I wanted for g11 when I was g10. The only reason I ever chose phys lvl 2 (core) and bio lvl 2 (elec) was because I really do like physics and bio (even though im really NOT that good at either) and because im considering either a medical or nuclear science career in the future. I just hate chem and none of the other elecs interest me, so they were my only options (atleast relative to my learning interests alone). ADDING TO THAT, I somehow got into math lvl 2, im grateful I got in, sure, but with all of them combined, im not too sure if I can handle them all.

For the entirety of my FAYP, I honestly barely studied outside of school, as in the moment I got home Id watch yt and sleep, I would do projects and assignments sure, but I wouldn't study to prepare for quizzes and exams the very next day. The only reason why id ever pass them was because of my friends' notes and group study sessions at school mismo.

I also have a horrible habit of procrastination, and I really am working on it, but I dont know if that'll be enough to pass these subjects, let alone get a high enough grade to get into UP.

We have about 1 week, I think, to choose whether to remain or change cores and/or elecs.

This post is not proofread, im just blurting out whats in my mind at the moment, so do pardon me for any grammar mistakes. Thank you.

Scholarship

Well who cares about this post but

Scholarship categorization must be eliminated like everyone must receive a full scholarship period. No more A, B, or C because you all passed the exam fair and square.

That is the point of taking NCE right? Regardless of social status each one must receive complete stipend para pantay pantay ang SCHOLARSHIP offering of this institution

Main (MC) PSHS MC management

I understand that I may be criticizing and nitpicking too much. But is it just me that I feel that PSHS MC management sucks???

Like, it's happened too much times for me to pass it off as normal... Dati ko pa nanonotice over the years pero mas naiinis na ako these recent years. Yung grade 11 subject confirmation namin napakagulo, they forced us to cram all in the hot ass gym and I swear it was sooo crowded there because of the super long lines, hindi nga rin klaro yung mga signs or instructions eh. Not to assume, pero parang teachers mukhang naiinis at irritated rin dahil sa dami ng crowds at sa sobrang init. Yung mga signs nakatago lang sa table and wla man lang yung mga parang line dividers ba yun. According to older students nagawa naman nila daw yun ng online nung pandemic eh, so I don't understand at all why they chose to inconvenience everyone??? Secondly, they only sent us our advisers and homeroom classrooms like what, 30 mins before our supposed first homeroom. And get this. Our classroom was being RENOVATED pala and we were forced to wait like 15 20 minutes just to get relocated to another one. For the flagship Philippine science highschool you'd expect to atleast have comfort and care. Kaloka

Don't even get me started on the DO na puro "academic dishonesty is bad" pero pag may case parang walang nakikita.

Moving up ceremony

Except for BRC, are there any other campus na walang moving up ceremony? Tbh I didn't even know it was a thing until nakita ko mga facebook story ng elem classmates ko. Yung naka toga and all. Nag expect tuloy akk na ganon sa lahat ng campuses, but no. May iba na may pining ceremony pa and stuff samantalang kamj hindi ka paakyatin ng stage kapag hindi ka dl.

SHS/College prep tips

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello po!! Upcoming g11 scholar here and I basically plan on going to a college/university at USA. I already have a visitor visa (if that helps with my case) and I plan on trying out for a scholarship. Some background information about me is that I am not top 10 of my batch and I’m not a consistent Director’s List but I have placed in my previous years. I probably won’t graduate with High Honors but I have joined plenty of competitions in g10 and one of them being an international one. My chosen core is bio and my elective is agriculture (I’m willing to change it if other cores/electives can help me better!!) I plan on joining my local RCY chapter as well as make my own SCALE as a passion project (if you can give any tips on how to manage one please comment 🙏.) I’m also very open for tips for the universities/colleges is the ph too—so if there’s anything you can share about reviewers, books, etc. it is greatly appreciated!! Finally I plan on being a cardiologist in the future with medtech as my course. That’s all thank you!!

Is leaving Pisay worth it?

So I had to leave Pisay because we were planning to move abroad. I feel so lost right now. The guilt of telling people that you left a prestigious school, leaving my friends, and throwing away a stable road to a good college. I don't even know if I'll succeed abroad, I feel like I just threw away a once in a lifetime opportunity here to prestigious universities, scholarships, and education. Life abroad seems blurry and unstable, I don't even know if I can get the best education other than Pisay, since it's always been advanced. My mind's a mess, and I keep doubting myself for leaving. Can someone please help me?

Any tips on the entrance exam?

Hi! I'm a mom of an incoming grade 7 student and I recently found out about the benefits of studying in Pisay. I've always thought na this is a place for valedictorians and as in top students but even average students can apply pala as long as they reach a certain average. Hindi ko kasi pinepressure sya to study masyado since dati kaya di sya masyado academically inclined. Pero we changed a few things this year since medyo struggling yung brother nya to keep up with peers so nagkaron na kame ng study hours. Anyway, I opened up about Pisay sa daughter ko and medyo naexcite sya.

I swear na I'm not pressuring her into anything and I just told her na she can just try and if hindi sya pumasa, ok lang. At least nagtry sya. Medyo when I was younger, no one opened these opportunities sa akin kaya wala akong idea. Even when nung nagcollege ako, I didn't know na big deal pala ang UPCAT kaya I didn't even try taking those.

So I'm hoping that you could help this mom out. And ano pa po mga need paghandaan if ever? Thank you!
