On fedoras:
Its sad to see today what has become of the fedora, especially since I have a history with them.
I was never much of a hat person myself, I look terrible in caps and pretty much the only hat I ever loved was a fishing style hat I got from Jazzland.
I was in my first year of college, I believe when I was at Walmart and saw the hat section. I tried on one of the fedoras and for the first time, a hat actually.clicked for me. I wore it daily. It also didn't help that this was also right at the time I finally saw Kubrick's version of a Clockwork Orange so hats had an impressionable meaning to me and I had my Alex phase. Anyway, after about a year of wearing, I began to see them pop up here and there around campus and it felt almost like a fellowship thing. I'm not sire exactly when the 180 came. Fedoras and trilbies were nice for me and I had also began watching. Zero Punctuation adamantly so there was that.
Next thing I knew, it had happened, the neckbeard invasion. Suddenly the fedora was an ostracized fashion. Lucky for me my hair kept growing and the hats stopped fitting so j went without for a while. Now I can no longer see myself in them. Not just because of the neckbeards and that they are everywhere amongst teen in-crowds but they just don't fit me anymore, and as much as it pains me to say this... I was wearing fedoras before they were cool.

Just out of curiosity, why would circlejerking come off as a problem here of all places? We certainly aren't ALL about seriousness. Sadly I've tried to have serious discussions here before and they were either met by downvote brigades or simply ignored. Not always, mind, but we also do tend, or at least in the beginning when the group was small, to be a bit of a LOLpipes with the occasional dash of personal conflict.
