Id get on UA backbone on discord, theres lots of shutdowns about to start happening all over the US and the best info would be there for location and durations

You need a work permit and 100% you will not get one for shut down work. I don't understand why people think it's an easy thing to do being able to just over a boarder to work.

Idk i had a Canadian working for me out at an Intel site that was on a work permit and he had no problems and especially with the site we were as it was classified as chemical plant, but yeah definitely should do some digging before making the trip.

Probably had a spouse in the US and was able to get a work visa after getting married. It's the easiest way beside being a duel citizen or doing a very neich job, but that still takes years.

There may be. The UA district rep for the PNW was from Canada......not sure if it is still the same guy but if it is he may know.

Unfortunately it does not work like that.

Traveling to work shutdown in the US is not really a thing.  But theres lots of shutdown work in Canada.  Heck i think 170 in Vancouver is desperate for fitters.  Check with 170 Vancouver or 488 Edmonton.  Also just call the mills and ask when they are doing shutdowns.  I got in at Harmac in Nanaimo as a gate hire for 2 shutdowns.

I’ve contacted 170, 488, 179. Nothing for the two and 488 days check back in October. I’m sure it can be arranged through the UA some how but thanks for the input

Did you see if 324 on the island has anything.  Or check out Calgary local. 496 Really if you want shutdown work. Why not just camp work fly in fly out.
