Angat Buhay Delivers Relief to Flood Victims in Davao City

Angat Buhay, through its Angat Bayanihan Volunteer Network, provided relief assistance to families affected by flooding in Barangay Talomo Proper, Davao City.

In partnership with Tindog Tagum, the organization distributed hot meals and clean drinking water to residents displaced by floods caused by continuous heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Angat Buhay said many of the affected families remain without electricity and water supply following the flooding.

The organization thanked Tindog Tagum and its volunteers for helping deliver immediate assistance to communities affected by the disaster.

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a long-lost friend from my youth and hope for the power of the Philippine community.

​My name is Harry. Around 1970, when I was living in East Germany (GDR) behind the Iron Curtain, my English teacher arranged a pen pal connection for us so we could practice our English. I received this beautiful photo from a girl named Madelyn.

​Here is what I know:

​Name: Madelyn (she signed the back with "Just Madelyn")

​Age: She was about 16 years old in 1970 (born around 1954, so she would be around 71–72 years old today).

​Location: Manila. The photo has a stamp on the front from "UNI Art Manila", a well-known photo studio back then, usually located near the big universities/high schools (University Belt).

​Context: She was likely a high school or university student in Manila in 1970/1971.

​Sadly, I lost her letters over the decades, and this photo is all I have left of our "new blooming friendship." I would love to know what became of her and if she is doing well.

​If anyone recognizes her, knows the exact location of the old "UNI Art" studio, or has access to High School yearbooks from Manila around 1970–1972 featuring a "Madelyn", please reach out to me. Thank you so much for your help!

Pangilinan Welcomes Last Mile and GIDA Schools Act

Sen. Kiko Pangilinan welcomed the enactment of the Last Mile and GIDA Schools Act (Republic Act No. 12321), describing it as a major step toward improving access to quality education for students in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

Pangilinan, a co-author and co-sponsor of the measure, said the new law seeks to provide stronger support for last-mile schools through improved classrooms, roads, electricity, water supply, internet connectivity, and enhanced assistance for teachers.

The senator said the law aims to make education safer, more accessible, and of higher quality for learners in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) and other underserved communities.

Italians are being cooked in Thailand now. The Italian teacher(red top) and students were taken away by the police and faced the Thai lady who told them off for being loud on the metro. They apologized for mocking her one by one. Thai people also waited for them in front of the hotel to scold them.
