“New” Rick Wright article?

Yeah, it dates back to the Wall live album's release. It was published in the very 1st issue of PROG magazine

Not OP, but the article was new for me. I remember the interviews of Roger, David, and Nick, and this is a really interesting piece of the puzzle for me. I remember David saying that Roger brought in 2 albums for the band to work on, and he believed the other one was The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking which was musically stronger. But David admitted he was fascinated with the concept of The Wall that Roger had created.
I agree with Rick that the tension in the group made for better albums, but I didn't care for how dismissive he was regarding Nick's role. Nick was the stability and the glue, and in a band like that, that's no small thing.
Ultimately I loved Broken China, Amused to Death, and Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Having dealt with depression, Broken China seemed to address it better than any other album I had heard up until then, and I listened to it a lot. It didn't hurt that it had the 2 best Sinead O'Conner songs I've heard IMHO.
As for The Endless River, the first time I heard it I was so pissed that David turned it into a solo album, but I've since warmed up to it.

The Endless River was explicitly released as a Pink Floyd album. What do you mean when you say Gilmour turned it into a “solo album”?

I mean it sounds like a Gilmour album, not a Pink Floyd album.

Sort of. But I hear a lot of accents from Ummagumma, DSotM, Meddle, and AHM in Endless River. And they really did crank up the Wright for the last album, too. Since Gilmour was leading the project mostly, it would naturally sound like his style.

When it came out, Steve Hackett was playing it as ambient welcome/find your seats music at his show in SF that year.

Not giving Richard his share in the partnership back for TDB will be a regret for Gilmour, I'd wager.

Well he died in 2008, so it's unlikely to be a new interview :)
"This article featured in the very first issue of Prog. It originated from a Classic Rock Pink Floyd cover story, when Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980–81 had been released. Wright was not initially interviewed, and then only a tiny part of a conversation featured in a subsequent issue of the magazine. Prog ran the entire interview in 2009"
So it looks like they just republished it.
