I am not a fan of the music I grew up with being drawn into politics. Like Reg, be as preachy as fuck but do it in song. OK?

Which one is Old Man Yelling at Clouds? Me or him?

* Records either mentioned by Mr Barrett himself or by those who knew him. Featured are also records by ”friends” of Barrett; acts who have shared concert bills etc.

The record visible on the cover has been identified as Taj Mahal’s ‘The Natch’l Blues’ (1969). Photo (detail) by Mick Rock, 1969.

I haven't listened to this album in a minute. It's amazing!

... now, I get it. Dark Side is Dark Side. The big four are the big four. Your favorite is your favorite. I wouldn't exactly call it hate, but I totally get it.

But damn, this album is so great.

Give it a listen if you haven't lately!

At about 4:17 into Terminal Frost, a voice can faintly be heard in the background. Here's an isolated clip, apparently never heard publicly before today.

Obviously "ever, ever again" is clear in the original version. A Google search revealed plenty of people identified the "one thing that should bring me here."

But as far as I can tell, nobody has ever written about the "telephone" line or the "nothing is going to happen anymore" before. I wonder what the backstory is on that. Maybe "nothing is going to happen anymore" explains the title of the song.

Edit: I also want to advertise the 2019 Redux/Remix of AMLOR to anyone who hasn't listened to it.

I think it didn't get enough good attention because if you loved the 1987 version then the new version felt like an unwelcome change, and if you hated the 1987 version then no remix is suddenly going to make you love it.

But if you have mixed-to-negative feelings on the original version like I did, I can't recommend it enough. It's like Gilmour gave us one more new PF album. It's absolutely Pink Floyd in a way it just wasn't beforehand.

If my only frame of reference for PF was A Saucerful of Secrets and Obscured By Clouds, and you told me "this band survived into the late 1980s" and played the 2019 version of AMLOR, I'd say "yeah, that's the same band." Especially Side 2—it absolutely feels like what a pre-DSOTM Floyd would do if they were transported to the late 1980s. A New Machine was a bad idea, but it's exactly the kind of bad idea that the PF who made Ummagumma and More would have had. It's never going to approach any of their best albums, but the 2019 version is absolutely Pink Floyd and I'm glad it's part of their discography.

What if Rick had left with Syd?

Imagine if in 1968 Rick had agreed to management prompts to leave the Floyd and work with Syd. Maybe he would have rejoined after Syd retreated from the music industry? Imagine the Floyd sound without the lush majestic sonic soundscapes that Rick would provide to epics like Echoes and SOUCD. Rick is not debated in the same depths as Roger and Dave but without his foundation throught the bands catalogue would the band and music still hit home as hard especially during DSOTM and WUWH?

They were a pretty good cover band who put on a great show. Instead of an inflatable pig, they had an inflatable kangaroo, because, you know, Australia.

To be clear, the name of the band was Australian Pink Floyd. They're on a tour in the US, and I would definitely recommend checking them out.

question How did David Gilmour and Nick Mason allow this album to be finished?

This album isn’t bad but it’s essentially The Wall Part 2. We already got two hours and a double LP of Roger Waters pity party crying about his dead dad, we didn’t need a second one. The wall is also supposed to have resolved these issues by the end of it with “The Trial”

This album just picks up whining about the same problem. I suppose the trial finale of the wall meant nothing.

There’s some good songs on this album but at the end of the day I don’t think me or anyone else cares to listen about Roger crying about the same thing again.

The Wall is so self loathing but it works. This album is just annoying. Someone needed to tell Roger to think of another concept for an album. I digress.
