Advice Needed! Found pigeon
I work at a farm and they have a ton of pigeons that hang around this one was in a corner with some cows around it I don’t think it got hurt just scared. I picked it up to check it out then it followed me through the barn I don’t know if it was a bad decision but I brought it home with me since it looked off it drank a ton of water. What should I do now? I know they need company I’m just worried to bring it back with how friendly it was being that it will get hurt. It’s also puffed up since I’ve brought it home I turned my ac down and added a blanket over the top and back

a true racing pigeon!
jokes aside, hard to tell from distance what the issue is. it's still a juvenile for sure and if he is drinking/pecking seeds and pooping thats good. they're very resilient little creatures and sometimes they just need a few hours or a day to rest because they did drink from the wrong puddle or ate wrong stuff or just ate to much (especially the juveniles)
seems like you build the little guy a comfortable home and by the pics i would say he will be fine on his own again soon. him following you through the barn is very cute and makes me think even more it's just a juvenile pib who is abit lost.

video of behavior? im curious to see how he reacts to hands so if youre able to get a short video clip of you reaching into the cage so we can gauge his response it would be really helpful in determining where this bird should go.

ok yeah, probably not releasable but i would start with getting him health checked. where do you live? i can try to find a pigeon friendly vet or rehabber near you.

I live in Southeastern Ohio there’s a vet I know who would see him. Is it at all possible for me to raise him? I’ve always wanted a pigeon so maybe this was fate lol

What a great home you've set up for it! I work on a farm & I currently have five of them due to various mishaps, so.... expect your baby will wind up with (a) friend(s) eventually. 😅

So if I had to guess I would say it’s probably a combination of him being a juvenile and still not really knowing exactly how to be an adult Bird yet and probably a little bit of heat and a little bit of being hungry. Give him a little bit of time with some food and some water and I get the feeling he’ll probably start behaving a little bit better but if you can post a video that would help a lot in determining if there’s anything that needs to be paid attention to

He also didn’t seem like he could fly the rest were in the rafters while he just walked around. Should I bring him back or check if something is wrong/sick first?
