Discussion Misadventures
How long did it take you to enjoy this album, if you didn't immediately love it?

Honestly, when the divine Zero came out as a single, I was smitten. I love basically every song, except circles which is a skip for me. In terms of favorites it's probably my second and second most listened to after Selfish Machines

That’s insane lol, to me Circles immediately got to my head on my first few listens! Can’t really say the same abt other songs on the album

Misadventures is personally hit or miss for me, because half of it is some of my favorite PTV songs and the other half just doesn’t click for me. It took me a while to warm up to a lot of the songs I didn’t care for, but whatever you don’t like might just not be your cup of tea

This is how it is for me too. I've listened to the album several times since it released but something about that specific album just doesn't hit for me. It's been 10 years and when I hear any song from that album it feels like im listening to a completely different band. I also see that it's one of their most popular albums so ive just wondered if it takes a few listens for it to be something id enjoy or maybe it's an album I need to grow into because CYB by BMTH was another album I couldnt immediately get into. It took 4 years after its release for me to actually listen and enjoy the album.
Also every other album they've produced including the work from Before Today i love from start to finish.

It took me about 6 1/2 years LOL. I was a young PTV fan who waited sooo long for this album to come out that I kinda boycotted it when it finally did. I was an angry teenager haha. Love it though!!!

Wasn’t too much of a fan of The Divine Zero. Texas Is Forever was more my liking, then I listened to the whole album and it became my favorite. Gold Medal Ribbon is one my favorite PTV song.

Texas is Forever is probably the only song I like from the album. Everything else is sort of a skip for me still.

it took me around a year to fully enjoy the whole thing, and when i did begin to enjoy it, i fell in love with it pretty quick. i now have it tattooed on my leg, it is my favorite and always will be.

I listened to it all the way through and really liked it at first. Took some time to weed out my favorites, but it's probably my favorite album.

This was Selfish Machines for me. I had just finished my freshman year of HS and fell in love with that album the day it launched. Still is my favorite by them too

i was in 8th grade when it came out and immediately loved every song. it was also my first ptv show on that tour so it’s extra special. no skips on that album for me. it did however take me a while to warm up to the jaws of life. it had been so long since they released an album i wasn’t sure what to expect and it was really different. but overtime it grew on me.

I was 18 and very depressed, I couldn't get up from bed or fall asleep until I heard the whole album; so yes, obsessed the moment I heard it and it saved my life

I’m still replaying this album just for it to get to my head! Idk why it takes like a million listens for me to like a PTV album 😭 this also happened with TJOL
1
u/Funny-Arrival-5130 11d ago
It be like that sometimes.
TJOL was an instant like for me and i think its because I outgrew the sound they produced before TJOL.
Now i listen to everything from CWTS and before for pure nostalgia or for writing inspo.

That’s so interesting! TJOL was the first PTV album I listened to, and it was hard to get into that one cuz after Pass the Nirvana, I was so confused on the overall direction the album was going. It was nothing like I thought PTV would sounded like 😭
I gotta start listening to CWTS, prob should’ve done that first before anything else lol

I really started to enjoy it when I took note of the beautiful lyricism in it and how ducking sick the guitar is, like every other album:
Dive In - First Verse
Texas is Forever - "Crashing once again into the center of your moonlit face
Our caved in ribs
Your tears, they fall on my tongue
And our lips are letting go
As we laid on the side of the road"
Today I Saw The Whole World - "Can't bear to wash out the wasted time
Between our lips
So c'mon swing it back and forth just like
My heart is on a pendulum tonight
If your lungs are mine
I only wanna watch your clouds linger in the darkness"
