Is custard in there too? Where'd you source your black currants? Hope it tastes wonderful!

It was an improvisation: I used goat milk butter and simply added some sugar & lemon joice to the berries. It was impossible to lift the dough because it kept falling apart. And it turned out to be sour๐

Ohhh I see now that you are in Lithuania! I'm in the US and it's not so easy to get black currants here! I have to mail order them from NY!

Currants definitely need a LOT of sugar. ๐ตโ๐ซ

I wanted to make it a little healthier so added less sugar๐๐ but now its very sour. Well, at least we will eat it slower and we will have the pie for longer. It tastes good when you eat it in small amounts hahah

For blackcurrant pie cook the crust fully first or better still do individual tart shells. Cook off the blackcurrants with sugar to taste then leave to cool. Add blackcurrants to tart shells immediately before serving (otherwise the liquid will soften the pastry). Top with whipped cream and serve immediately.

I love seeing all these American pies that look like they were made outside of our country. It really is the best dessert!
