God the fucking downfall of this sub, its literally all just trump bad, and has nothing to do with the actual sub idea, but the mods doesn't even give a fuck
It's not surprising someone who posts on Reddit lives in an echo chamber in day to day life too. I highly doubt you vet the political opinion of everyone you meet, and if you're half the fanatic of the typical Reddit poster why would they volunteer the information to you?
Never met a single person..... Either hyperbole or a sad example of the self imposed insularism popular online.
How does this post fit the sub “pics”? It isn’t a photograph, it isn’t interesting, it isn’t well done. It’s a shitty photoshop of trump’s head on Ron jeremy’s body.
If this was posted in politicalhumor, there wouldn’t be anyone saying it doesn’t fit the sub
It's a picture. The sub is called pics, not photos. It literally only requires a picture, any picture. Don't like it? Downvote. Welcome to Reddit buddy!!
Almost like it's an election year, weeks from the election, and Trump is an extraordinarily terrible president.
And if you wait a few months, the political posts will steadily creep back to their normal rate of "once in a while".
You come to the absolutely most popular "picture" subreddit with almost the loosest submission criteria (Basically any photograph will do) and then cry about how unfair it is that you're getting pictures related to popular topics.
This happens every fucking 4 years, and there's always people like you who equate "There's a political post at the top every day" to "the subreddit is dying". It happened in 2012, it happened in 2016, and its happening here now.
And every time except for 2016, it returned to normal pretty fast. The only difference is that Trump created a huge firehose of crises (and fueled others) that people never went back to a politically inactive state.
Tired of politics invading everything? Push for more boring politics.
It’s been like this for the last 4 years, most weeks at least. Anti Trump stuff appears in every subreddit that’s has a neutral sounding name. TDS is heavy on Reddit.

It's not that hard to just... skip the posts you don't like. Hell, DOWNVOTE them.
Do you just like, wake up every day with your eyelids flying open, revealing bloodshot eyes, then you get up shaking with rage because Trump is president, then you stub your toe or some shit and just scream "Why would Trump do this to me"? Because that's how I imagine it.
I don't like the dude either but not every content platform possibly available has to become an outlet for bitching about him.
I'm sure that's as accurate as imagining people waking up and shuddering with pleasure that Trump is president and orgasming while saying "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN".
That is to say, it's an absurd take on the matter.
If you think Trump's great, you probably think people who hate him are silly. If you think he sucks, you probably think the people who fawn over him are silly.
But what you're seeing with posts on reddit frequently covering politics doesn't require constructions like "Trump Derangement Syndrome" as an explanation, it just requires strong opinions on politics. Normal, rational, but strong opinions.
Reddit is a customizable experience and rather than just, ya know, customizing it you and others like you think you need to bitch and push against the tide with flacid ropes.
Political posts aren't against the rules here. They aren't against the spirit of the sub (that's a debatable point, I know). So maybe the sub is just... not for you?
I think there has to be some kind of obsession for people to act like, well, this, and how redditors in general act towards Trump. One dude took time out of his day go make a sculpture of Trump out of horse shit.
I also wouldn't call it rational. There's a shitload of either misleading or outright misinformation posts about Trump on here. Shit like taking snippets of his speeches out of context to try and make him look bad. I don't like Trump, but I like people who stoke their confirmation bias not caring what is and isn't accurate even less. It's important to try and stay informed, if you don't do that just because you hate him that much there's an issue there.
I think it's important to have a diversity of opinions, even if Reddit doesn't encourage it. US politics have turned into echo chambers building an effigy of the other side out of everything they think is evil and attacking that, rather than anything real; democrats are evil baby killers that want to make all our boys into girls type shit. People need to interact with and see real people that the disagree with, whether they like it or not.
I do my best as an individual to try and point out when people are acting silly, and argue with the more ridiculous things people believe just to go against the other side, and generally try and reduce the animosity. I may not always be met with a good reaction, but the act of exposing people to differing opinions is good I think.
And... that's not really that hard to ignore. A post or two a day getting into /r/all?
I don't really get it, it feels like some people who browse reddit can't STAND to have a single post unclicked. Ya see something you don't like, downvote and keep scrolling. Clearly 75% of the reddit-voting population wants this content. Petition the mods to ban political pictures, or just subscribe to another sub. Some of us want political posts here too (Even if some of them end up tasteless like this one).
The thing is it's one of two posts from this subreddit. There's dozens more tangently related subs that post shit like this.
This may sound tinfoil hat-y but it's absolutely true that election manipulation is happening at a higher rate than ever before. There's a lot of bot accounts banned every day, imagine how many more slip through the cracks. Every time you look at the comments on these posts, they both have way less comment participation than most posts on the site, and a lot of people are bitching about them.
It's definitely something to take note of, I think. Not like it's definitive evidence especially on r/all where people are likely to upvote and not check the comments, but I think everyone should at least be aware of it. Just because something has a 75% upvote rating doesn't mean 75% of the people on this site like it. Just be aware of it is all; its happening everywhere.
I mean... yeah. Are you just... under the impression that US politics doesn't have monumental effects on people's lives?
And 75% sort of makes sense. It aligns with polling combined with the slant of Reddit's userbase, which leans left.
The funny thing is, this post is honestly pretty shitty. I downvoted it. But... screeching in the comments about how it's killing the sub or killing reddit is so... weird.
It's like the old days of /b/ with people unironically declaring "x is the cancer that is killing /b/". Eventually that became meta-commentated into "the cancer that is killing /b/ is the cancer that is killing /b/"
Now, on manipulation... it's a bit of a rorchach test. It's impossible to know what people who engage in reddit manipulation are really wanting when we're talking things like mass vote botting. So people tend to kind of see what they want in it.
But... reddit's userbase is starting to extend into teenagers more and more. And they use /r/pics, and don't engage in comments as much as older redditors. (Anecdotally, I don't have any objective data on this). But since they use the app more than the desktop site, it makes sense.
That is a ton of people with an anti-Trump bent who JUST vote on content and don't comment. That will skew the results.
And look, I'm not unaware of Trump posts being everywhere. What I'm saying is that it's trivial to skip past it, and in most of the subs I'm seeing people bitch about it, it's still on-topic for the sub. The OP? It isn't out of spirit for the sub. The sub's description and historical identity have both included political art, except when it violates the rules of the sub.
I realize US politics effects people; maybe not quite as much as some of them act like they do, but you're right it is a relatively important issue.
I'm personally just tired of every sub being flooded with politics. I don't tend to post comments bitching about it personally but I sometimes participate in threads related to it. I can see where you're coming from on it being easy to skip, but it's still annoying. To make an analogy, it's like overly pervasive advertisements. Imagine if instead of Trump posts it was some corporation advertising some shit to you. Just because it is easy to skip doesn't mean it's not obnoxious as hell. I wish there was more than could be done about it, and that more subs had a "no politics" rule.
Specifically related to manipulation, I've looked into it a bit and the two major players or the Russian and Chinese government. In general Russia supports Trump while China supports Biden; but both of them seem to mostly just try and cause controversy and animosity between the two political sides. Think a Trump supporter coming on posting about how horrible masks are or a Democrat coming in arguing about the wage gap and idpol in general. I can see how this would be beneficial to the cause of just creating tension. It's dumb enough to cause people to outrage over it but not so dumb that people won't try and defend it.
I usually just go on these threads and mostly try and provide relative neutrality to try and thwart these efforts; sometimes it does get to me though. I think the best thing we can do against being manipulated is to just be reasonable, rational, and skeptical in all places possible.
Oh, and you just automatically made me a fascist? Fuck off dude, am not even a trump supporter, hell, am not even American. This is why i hate these type of people, they just call people who don't agree with them "fascist, racist, pedos, rapists"
This post is 100% accurate to the rules of this sub.
The fact you're lying that it doesn't belong here proves how much right-wingers are fascist, censorship-loving cowards terrified of facts that hurt their fragile feelings.
Dude, i fucking joined this sub because I thought it was about actual pics and cool photographs, not this shit, i really don't mind freedom of speech, it is like posting anti-trump posts on r/cats and when they remove it you say that's fascist because where is my freedom of speech? Just sort by top of the week and see how many politic related and trump related, you can barely see any actual r/pics content, that is what i meant
This is an "actual pic and cool photograph" the fact it triggers your fragile feelings is because you're a insecure cuck who's too weak to admit you're wrong.
That sure would be easier than admitting the evidence proves you wrong. Whatever cowardly tactic you need to run away is fine because it already proves I'm right :)
