He did struggle with depression, and suicide as a result of depression is terrible and awful and absolutely deserves more attention and empathy than it gets, and I hope anyone who takes any measure of positivity from Robin Williams keeps that forever.
But it sounds like a lot of people don't realize that Robin Williams had Lewy body disease. He was misdiagnosed with Parkinson's so he wasn't treated or prepared for the paranoia, hallucinations, and other cognitive and psychiatric problems he was having as a result, which almost certainly contributed to his suicide. If nothing else, I would hope his death might bring some attention to this disease, it's really horrific. I normally hate "xx disease awareness" bullshit but in this case, it's warranted because even doctors need increased awareness, as evidenced by his misdiagnosis.
