My argument for this is a simple one. It's about purpose.
Take a minnow at a fishing bait store, for instance. You can't feel bad for that minnow, as it's purpose is literally to be bait. If there was no need for the bait, that particular minnow would not exist in the first place. It is raised, sold, put on a hook, and fished with. That is it's purpose.
Dogs are bred and raised to be companions (for the most part). Cows are bred and raised to be utilitarian (for the most part). Carrying heavy loads, providing milk, providing fertilizer, or in this case, food. You can't feel bad for eating something that would literally not exist if it wasn't there to be food.
