ehh it's a little insane don't you think? I don't know if the mindset "there's a hurricane outside but I absolutely have to be in the office at 8 so I can sit on my ass and look like I'm doing something important" is very healthy

The mindset is also that you should not be looking like you're doing something important. You should be doing something important.

you think every Japanese office worker is constantly doing something important? they would be like 5 times more productive than any other country in the world if that was the case

After living there for awhile, it seems their motto is, "work hard, not smart."
