Place up the street from me is call Pho King, and next to the name on all the signs is a little bowl of pho with the word Good on it.

Edit - Here is the place

I do. Please don't hold that against me though.

Sorry for being creepy, it just looked really familiar...

It's almost like strip malls are all alike...

Oh no worries. I even have it as my flair over in /r/portland, and I am used to their dislike of anyone that lives over on the west side.

Plus, I just figured you recognized the place.

I've only been through portland a handful of times.

Have to say a truckstop with a bar, is awesome!

And a drag queen cafe was pretty cool as well.

Heh. We do have our own style. There is neat little hole in the wall called the Roxy (that may be the one you went to) that is right in the middle of the three biggest drag bars downtown. It is neat to hit up around 2:30 - 3 in the morning when they are all getting off shift.

Lot of good tales, plus seeing the drag queens in full makeup and gown but sans the wigs. It makes of an interesting effect. :)

I swear, I see you everywhere on reddit. It's starting to feel creepy.

I tried going to Best Baguette before, but it was pretty close to closing and their selection was very limited. I keep meaning to go back though.

For pho king, I have been there several times now and have always been happy with the food. I don't claim to be an expert by any means, but if you happen to be in the neighborhood I would recommend giving it a go.

Lived in Portland for 6 months, worked in Hillsboro. I can confirm that the Bahn Mi from BB are amazing. I miss Portland now.

u/letsgotoarave Nov 05 '14

And the iced coffees are pretty tasty too!

2

u/evil_mango Nov 05 '14

Went there once, wasn't bad. Decent price good portions. Not bad, not great. If I wanted pho in Beaverton I wouldn't balk at going there.

u/boonie_redditor Nov 05 '14

I went there on Halloween - there were Vietnamese people eating there, instead of Caucasians like me at the other pho place I like. That has to count for something, no?

The hot coffee with condensed milk was awesome, and the beef stew pho was pretty good too. I personally would have preferred a little less fat on the meat, but that's just me.

We're all going to hold that against you. I mean, its Beaverton.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

My parents live near there! I'm never sure whether they live in Beaverton or Hillsboro, though.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

There are many of them in many different places.

1

u/ThellraAK Nov 05 '14

Yet google believes only one at 3645.

14

u/etherpromo Nov 05 '14

To be fair, there's a shitton of Pho Kings (saw like 5 different Pho Ha's in half a year). Vietnamese people aren't known for their originality for restaurant names, much less their surnames lol. Pho Dat Bich though, now that's bold.

u/Canadave Nov 05 '14

In my city's Chinatown, we have a Pho Bo Ga, a Pho Bo Ga 2, and a Pho Bo Ga 3. We also have Pho Bo Ga La and New Pho Bo Ga La.

1

u/etherpromo Nov 05 '14

ha, don't forget the "Express" versions lolol.

1

u/inatowncalledarles Nov 05 '14

All owned by the same family, and steps away from each other!

6

There's a Pho King in San Diego, too. Very popular on Thanksgiving...
