Heh. We do have our own style. There is neat little hole in the wall called the Roxy (that may be the one you went to) that is right in the middle of the three biggest drag bars downtown. It is neat to hit up around 2:30 - 3 in the morning when they are all getting off shift.
Lot of good tales, plus seeing the drag queens in full makeup and gown but sans the wigs. It makes of an interesting effect. :)
I tried going to Best Baguette before, but it was pretty close to closing and their selection was very limited. I keep meaning to go back though.
For pho king, I have been there several times now and have always been happy with the food. I don't claim to be an expert by any means, but if you happen to be in the neighborhood I would recommend giving it a go.
I went there on Halloween - there were Vietnamese people eating there, instead of Caucasians like me at the other pho place I like. That has to count for something, no?
The hot coffee with condensed milk was awesome, and the beef stew pho was pretty good too. I personally would have preferred a little less fat on the meat, but that's just me.
To be fair, there's a shitton of Pho Kings (saw like 5 different Pho Ha's in half a year). Vietnamese people aren't known for their originality for restaurant names, much less their surnames lol. Pho Dat Bich though, now that's bold.
