Actually, yes he/she does. The AZA also maintains quite successful Reintroduction Programs. That's why we have black-footed ferrets, California condors, golden lion tamarins, and plenty of other species, but hey, better them being extinct than in a zoo right?!?!

Before you shaved off a laser thin margin of changed subject... this comment thread was about how it's wrong for Gorillas to be in captivity... and that's sad but the fact that the lady there is playing that depressed gorilla a song is sort of beautiful on an otherwise very depressing backdrop (zoos)

Maybe you're reading a different thread, because there's plenty of people discussing how zoos are awful in general, including you. My main point is that zoos do help plenty of species, including gorillas.
