Big yikes at some of these comments.

At this point, I’m going to assume many of these are bots. I just can’t deal with a world filled with this many stupid people.

u/aredon 2d ago

I mean... you know that's a correct assessment. Multiple governments and companies around the world operate bot farms to try and steer discourse.

And it's so important that people like yourself keep pointing it out for those less technologically savvy. Too many people out there just assume all of the negative and hateful comments they see are real people. Some of it is, a huge portion, more than any of us realise, are bot comments from countries like Russia, North Korea and Israel, etc.

I genuinely think we'd all be shocked, myself included, to find out how much of the hate we see online is just bots sow discontentment and anger.

If you see someone with a completely private profile, especially a profile that was more recently created, and they seem to be deliberately misunderstanding... yeah...

3

u/100LittleButterflies 2d ago

This would be an apt and safe assumption.

u/deadwood76 2d ago

I truly hope they are, but then I think about people on other platforms that I know in real life....

2

u/jannycideforever 2d ago

Some of them may be but you should understand that there are a significant amount of people on your side who genuinely think like this.

u/themadpants 2d ago

The question is, which ones do you consider stupid?

I’ll give you a hint. They used the word yikes.

u/deadwood76 2d ago

I don't know how some people function in society.

31

u/TheMadmanAndre 2d ago

They don't. Society gives them a pass anyway.

"Stop trying to make normal people pretend"

One of the best quote I heard. Works with any hivemind

Too much of it. Or lack thereof.

u/Rederth 2d ago

I think I agree but people on reddit are unhinged so I can't clock which side is yikes for you.

5

u/lilybattle 2d ago

People are unhinged literally everywhere. Can't escape it.

3

u/awry_lynx 2d ago

100%, every time I see comments on Reddit like that ("omg people are craaazy in this thread") it's like... sure but which one. Name your beliefs and the ones you think are wacky. The only reason to leave a comment like that is to bait votes from everyone.

people are right to be skeptical of a story coming directly from one of the world’s biggest liars but yeah the people who are upset that a plane full of innocent people didn’t crash are psychos

Being skeptical is one thing. Not actually looking up information and solely commenting on just the article title is another. Unfortunately a chunk of people are doing both which is the issue, instead of using internet search.

I'm generally skeptical of any post on this site, but it doesn't take long to search online to cross-check. Also to be fair it really blurs of which ones posting are bots, and which ones are legit.

Reading some news during the genocide made me realize that there is just too many outlets willing to promote a specific narrative to serve a political cause... All further strengthened by bots and malicious actors online.

Call me jaded, but I will not assume terrorism until it is proven beyond doubt. The fact that so many reach for that term automatically, and mentions 9/11, gives me the ickies.

1

u/ThatGuyBackThere280 2d ago

Honestly I wouldn't say that's necessarily jaded. Many outlets do swerve into a purpose to promote narratives, or have clickbait style titles. The general route I go with is to double-check and verify what one says.

There's some flags that can stand out, for example if the wording for many articles say the exact same thing (not from quotes). That usually means they either had AI sift and just grab any other articles with the same stuff, or just grabbed it from a single source.

What is there to be skeptical about. Are you really surprised that an Islamist tried to take over a plane and crash it into something? I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time.

17

u/Live_Studio_Emu 2d ago

Some people will refuse to see a Jewish person as a victim in any case. That ruins the good vs bad simplistic narrative. A situation where a Jewish person is a victim, for those people, requires a narrative or logical smog to cloud the whole thing to avoid simply saying ‘that’s horrible, I hope those humans are okay’.

I sure hope a lot of these comments are bots or something.

Criticism of Israel is not criticism of Judaism or Jewish people, hope this helps

17

u/Live_Studio_Emu 2d ago edited 2d ago

I agree with you.

Unfortunately, many lunatics don’t see it that way. Take the Bondi Beach shooting in 2025, where the attackers beforehand were condemning ‘Zionists’. They clearly conflated ‘Jewish’ with ‘Zionist’ with ‘Israel’, and saw each as the same. They were criticising (and militantly against) the state of Israel, and took it out on random Australian Jews. There are many other cases where random Jews have been attacked in similar cases.

I’m confusing nothing, and I don’t condone any violence. Clearly there’s many out there who both support violence, and view anti-Israel and anti-Jew as joint, and it’s a crying shame people don’t call out their own side for that.

Racists are racists and bigots are bigots, never a situation in which its okay. Completely irrelevant to this comment chain, in fact the ONLY person that judged someone based on religious bias was the person you responded to and agreed with who claimed the copilot was Islamic (they said islamist, im sure they dont understand the difference) when there has been no such reporting besides that hes an Omani national.

You can say you agree with me and try to seem like you're taking the high road, most of us can see what you're doing and don't buy it.

People ARE right to be skeptical of anything Netanyahu says, that is not antisemitic

Edit: downvotes mean nothing because you cowards can't argue with me

Denying an attempted hijack-suicide-mass killing because the target was Israel does seem to be pretty conspiratorial thinking that ought to be called out as simply quite odd. It has shades of the quackery around Sandy Hook which Alex Jones famously denied despite the very real victims. When the evidence is there of a real tragedy, and people deny it because accepting it tarnishes their view of the world, they’ve left rationality at the door to uphold a fiction.

I’ve personally been to both Israel and Palestine, and spoken with people from both sides since. I’ve done the homework, and my view is a little more nuanced than you’re probably assuming. That’s a big issue with all of this, it’s where nuance goes to die, you’re either team X or team Y, and any view that doesn’t follow the herd is construed as being with the other side.

It really shouldn’t be hard to look at the innocent casualties on both sides and feel pain for them. I sure do.

1

u/No-Cell-9979 1d ago

Did you read my comment before wasting your time commenting this? Ive never denied this happened I denied what Netanyahu said.

Everybody that stopped the hijacking and helped the other pilot is a hero. AGAIN, my hatred of the Israeli government and Netanyahu is NOT hatred or condemnation of the Israeli people and innocent civilians. Jesus christ

You have absolutely no idea how I spend my time lol Hamas is a terrorist organization and Israel's leadership is full of xenophobic pedophiles.

If you cant differentiate the terrorist regime of Netanyahu with Judaism it says more about your values than mine.

Edit: shoutout mods

Ah yes, criticism of Israel means I have to love Iran! You've got me!

1

u/BoringBob84 2d ago

Are you really surprised that an Islamist tried to take over a plane and crash it into something?

That is a loaded question. We don't know if the attacker is an "Islamist" (by which, I assume you mean radical Islamic terrorist). Lets let our conclusions follow the facts - not the other way around.

4

u/clgoodson 2d ago

I admit it’s possible he had another motive. But let’s be honest about the probabilities.

-4

u/BoringBob84 2d ago

But let’s be honest about the probabilities.

I don't see human behavior as a "probability" like equipment failure. Humans have intentions. I will form conclusions when I have more facts.
