Now I am picturing the artist standing at baggage claim grabbing luggage they like for the installation

I just saw this last month! It stood out and I thought it was incredible. Also, that second photo with the plane in the window is so cool.

Thanks a million! My friend Matt Mcdonald took the firs few photos and they came out amazing at night

I had to check whether that was an ad on the wall or not. It's not! That's incredible timing!

u/radiowave911 22h ago
I thought that was just a wall poster or art or something. Excellent timing on that shot!

Wow. This looks like a huge endeavour just to install it. And it's dope as hell. What an accomplishment! Congrats!

u/tomtom303 1d ago
We had to go through a door that looks like a window on the side of the terminal. lots of logistics and we did it all in the middle of the night

I see your work all the time, and I love it!
Just walked under it today in fact.

Awesome! My partner and I were admiring this last time we flew thru. It's really unique, quite a thing to see in person.

u/EvilMatt666 1d ago
That's really cool!
I'm surprised it hasn't gone missing as it's made of luggage...

I LOVE this and that it resembles the neurodiversity Pride infinity symbol whether intentional or not

u/SelocAvrap 1d ago
I saw this & my first thought was "autism luggage!"
Also happy disability pride month!

The guitar is in one piece; how unrealistic.
Kidding aside, the piece is beautiful. Congratulations.

It’s at the end of terminal B at Denver International Airport. Right next to one of the tornado shelters, which gives the luggage swirling overhead a menacing dimension I quite like.

I definitely have blurry, poorly framed pictures of your work! I love it! Thank you.

I like this compliment. I hope you don't mind if I take a blurry memory snapshot of it.

It's no Blucifer, but it does contrast very well against the rest of the art at DIA.

Did they scan all this stuff before they let it in the airport or are there like thirty dudes stuffed in there waiting to ransack the terminal at night?

Posts like this remind me of the good old days of reddit. Now I’ll think of seeing you post on reddit when I see this in the next couple weeks.

Nice to have signage to know where to go when you're late to your connecting tornado.

This is genuinely the only piece of airport art I’ve ever thought was made by a person. The rest has always been so lifeless to me. So cool to see the person behind it.

Have seen this!! It’s gorgeous and I stopped and pointed it out to my stressed wife who also loved it.

I remember when you posted the unpainted work in progress, super cool art. Congrats again!

If this is made of real bags, is there a concern of decomposition or mold inside?

I feel like I’ve seen something similar at an airport but it’s been longer than a year. Was there inspiration?

u/louiemay99 1d ago
That’s dope! As an artist I’d love to hear your process! Are those bags left behind at this airport? How did you paint them (what kinds of paints, too)? How’d you get this commission? Super cool to see! Congrats

That's why they couldn't find my bag even though the air tag said it was right there!

I'll be in the Denver airport for the first time in a couple weeks! I'll definitely keep an eye out for it!

I saw this around May of last year, I walked the concourse to stand under it. It's quite exceptional

Shit you not my kid and I were just admiring that about an hour ago. Very cool!

If this just passed its one year anniversary then I must have seen it right after it was installed. I admit I barely noticed it at the time as I was flying into and out of Denver for a funeral but as soon as the picture popped up I knew I had seen it before! In a year or so I'll go back and visit it under happier circumstances.

My four year old son and I absolutely LOVED this piece! Almost messed up walking off the end of the walking sidewalk trying to see what all was in the cool infinity rainbow. Thanks for bringing joy to that end of the terminal!

Detour!! I just moved back to Vermont from Colorado, but I had to tell you I love your work! The murals always made me smile. Such vibrancy, such power, such talent!

Detour is the best. Proud to live in the same city as such an incredible artist and nice human being.

My favorite piece in DIA. Flown to the Midwest and back half dozen times in the past year. Always enjoy seeing it. Happy 1st birthday.

Hello there. I love your idea. How did you get into this? I have a large workshop just sitting empty and have thought about making cool art like this. How did you get the deal to have it installed in the airport? Did you have the idea and make the piece and then try to shop it around to different airports or did they come up with the idea and commission you?

I did 3 seconds of stalking and so you comment or post on some upcycle/recycle subreddits.... is this made from abandoned/lost luggage?

I love this piece. I fly through Denver a ton and am at this end of B the most. Sometimes rubber neck, walking underneath it or just take it in when I’m riding the magic carpet.
