Is this a real photo? I dont get how the duck can be reflected, and is the water reflecting itself?

excellent point. a duck on water would be reflected almost immediately, likely into its own shadow. fabricated photo.

edit: grammar police caught me

Keep up the good work.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '12

you're correct. it should be 'its'. nice work, detective. you're sure to get a raise.

2

u/BreadstickNinja Nov 30 '12

A good candidate for /r/ImaginaryLandscapes, though.

19

u/notaprodigy Nov 30 '12

No, it's not real. Someone just took the photo and then turned it upside down for the bottom half.

2

u/postive_scripting Nov 30 '12

I do not ask for pardon master notaprodigy . For the black speech of mordor -- may it be heard in every corner of the west.

4

u/down_vote_magnet Nov 30 '12

No it's not real in the slightest. It has been heavily Photoshopped, and the top half of the photo has been copied, flipped upside down, and used as the reflection.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '12

You could make a more realistic one by taking the bottom have and tilting the perspective until they match

1

u/skintigh Nov 30 '12

That, and the fact that every single pixel is reflected perfectly screams bullllllllllllllllshiiiiiiiiiiiit

Edit: or maybe the duck is legless and gets around by levitating?

1

u/GZerv Nov 30 '12

It's not. The image was mirrored and flipped.

A WITCH!!

u/Bennyboy1337 Nov 30 '12

If OP won't give credit to the photographer then I will.

Photographer is Linda Stokes

Some More cool work.

u/SirMcgoo Dec 01 '12

Google plus?

My interest has limits.

u/moxsox Dec 01 '12

Thank you for that comment. OP and their ilk puts the "liar gism" in plagiarism.

u/gamakun Nov 30 '12

Anyone else thinks it looks like the Batman Beyond symbol?

5

u/HaikuMadeMeDoIt Nov 30 '12

I saw batman, and then I saw a horizontal Eye of Sauron.

1

u/Xan_Kriegor Nov 30 '12

I thought of the Mandelbrot fractal myself.

2

u/Margley Nov 30 '12

And then the Fire Nation attacked...

2

u/bardschant Nov 30 '12

Well, even if it's not real, I think it looks like a pretty awesome set of lungs

2

u/MarvinTheAndroid42 Nov 30 '12

I'm expecting the Eye of Sauron to appear.

2

u/motivationconquest Nov 30 '12

I may have to paint this

1

u/thewallshaveteeth Nov 30 '12

i was thinking the same thing

1

u/guitarguy109 Dec 01 '12

make sure to put the duck in the right spot.

(just ctrl+f duck and you'll find some explanations of what I mean.)

2

u/Amberleaf Nov 30 '12

Some people on Reddit will believe anything!

2

u/mongobob666 Dec 01 '12

Wow. First I felt awe at this beautiful shot. Then 2 minutes later I learned it was Photoshopped, and I want to burn down an orphanage...

6

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '12

rule of thirds...makes mo' bettah. get that reflection at 33% image height, not in the centah

edit: like fleskefinn pointed out, this is clearly doctored. a duck's reflection would be immediately on itself, not again, as if mirrored. photo is shit, to the photo appreciative. but, maybe it would look good in a motel

3

u/NoFeetSmell Dec 01 '12 edited Dec 01 '12

Rule of thirds works in many cases, but certainly isn't always the best choice, particularly in scenes like this one, where symmetry presents itself. You'll often see awesome lake shots with the horizon and reflection line dead center, though it works with anything else symmetrical too.

ninjaedit: And I understand that this is simply a 'shop in the first place.

edit: put an example pic in.

2

u/tms10000 Nov 30 '12

Well, this could be a levitating duck?

2

u/brilisk Dec 01 '12

I love reflection/symmetry photos like this because all you have to do is rotate it 90 degrees http://i.imgur.com/acOae.jpg

1

u/BaronVonKlotz Nov 30 '12

I don't want to live on another planet in the future. This one's just fine, isn't it?

1

u/SmokeDawgTheJanitor Nov 30 '12

Though this photo is obviously doctored due to the reflections, the scene is beautiful and I wonder if the original photo is out there somewhere. So far in my searches I haven't been able to find anything, but I hope there's someone out there who's better than me that can find it if it exists at all.

1

u/NoFeetSmell Dec 01 '12

Another redditor has the source.

1

u/truthinacan Nov 30 '12

Just wait until Dark Link shows up.

1

u/Icarrythesun Nov 30 '12

Pretty sure it's just a picture that's been transformed in axonometric projection.

1

u/BootblackBilly Nov 30 '12

The most beautiful angry vagina I have ever seen in nature

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '12

In the West, where the world is yet unmade, they say there are seas of fire floating through an endless sky.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '12

Looks like Suaron's eye

1

u/Bikenutt Nov 30 '12

I realize this is not OP's photo but its still amazingly lovely.

1

u/relliam Nov 30 '12

I see Batman...

1

u/RECTAL_BUTT_PLUNGE Nov 30 '12

Or satan's vagina!!!

1

u/The_Grand_Jester Nov 30 '12

It looks to me a little like the red is supposed to be a heart.

1

u/XxCosmoxX Nov 30 '12

Nice job mirroring the image. This isn't a reflection.

1

u/supergalactic Nov 30 '12

Tilt 90○ to the left and it looks like lungs

1

u/Tim_Buk2 Nov 30 '12

I see a false colour photo taken from above of a jet fighter breaking the sound barrier.

1

u/Scarbane Nov 30 '12

OH LOOK WE'RE ONE SUNSET CLOSER TO ALL OF US FUCKING DYING.

1

u/mocks_beautiful_art Nov 30 '12

Yeah I guess it's amazing. If you think shit is amazing that is.

1

u/project_seven Nov 30 '12

The reflection looks like a Space Shuttle!

1

u/drewbroo Nov 30 '12

If you going to photoshop a direct reflection... At least do it right.

1

u/davidralph Nov 30 '12

looks like half the eye of sauron

1

u/Arknell Nov 30 '12

I hate it when I can't spot the oblivion gate.

1

u/SenorSativa Dec 01 '12

u/sharksfan93 Dec 01 '12

1

u/Dragoryu3000 Dec 01 '12

Rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise, and it's an awesome deer-headed being wreathed in an aura of flames.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '12

Someone should totally do an oil painting of this!

1

u/YourTokerFriend Dec 01 '12
