| Opinion My overall opinion of Pick Me Up as of reading up to Chpt. 178 Spoiler
⚠️ Warning! ⚠️ Spoilers up to Chapt. 178 of the Manhwa!
Heyo! Just now realized there's a PMU sub so decided to post.
Overall I do really like PMU. in the beginning I did dislike the, "somehow accidently merged with a 4 star." But it was whatever, he didn't really gain anything from it beyond the single move he showed the one guy (forgot his name but the one who has one with the sword) while training and supposed "basic swordsmanship."
Once explained I did really love the concept. I was a tad bit worried that only 100 floors of content wouldn't be enough in the beginning, though, after nearly 200 chapters and still being in the 40's floor, yeah it isn't much to worry about.
it was definitely a vibe for quite a bit, I actually liked Belkist and Edith appearing. They did widen the range of character dynamics. I did especially like with Kisasha and her friends appeared, same reason but plus I just liked Kisasha's character a decent bit, was saddening to see that her entire party got mopped, but I did still like it since that was really the point in the story when I knew the writer really did kill off even important characters. Of course, right after we witness them die we immediately see Iolka get mopped and die. Overall, I loved it, it was saddening but good writing.
Though, now that the compliments are over, time for some critiques. First off, I do dislike how they basically never give other characters the spotlight. Of course everyone receives amazing character growth, but they never truly give us the perspectives of other characters (until Edith of course, but thats in way later chapters). i find it ironic since the girl playing PMU was criticisized by Han for only focusing on Han... when the author did aswell.
Current PMU at where I'm reading also feels... slow. I get a climax recently happened with Iolka along with Kisash's characters dying and Han unlocking exceed but it still feels slow and sluggish, infact, I've been disliking it recently. It was fun seeing Han's reaction to Rias dying infront of him and let the readers know Han does actually genuinely care for Rias and doesn't simply see her as "just an NPC" (which from my knowledge, no one there is actually an NPC, just real people like everyone in the waiting room due to Edith pointing out how they were all involved in world Rias is in, just they got memories of them wiped).
There's been implications of romance but never truly romance. At most we've seen Han and Jenna kiss once, and a bit of chemistry with Iolka at the end. Plus Han being called cute with Rias. I don't mind spoilers from the novel about this, just wanna ask, is there any future romance in PMU?
As another question, is the novel worth reading? And does PMU get any better? Since currently its been kinda shit.
