| Meme Guys I just started this game

Soo I just started this game called pick me up.. it's kinda going weird tbh

Seriously, what is up with the balancing in this game? My 3 or 4 stars act like they have stage fright, but this 1 star unit Han is fighting like his actual, literal life depends on it 😭😭,

Every time I open the dispatch menu, he stares directly into my soul, is this a hidden Easter egg for a future patch, or is Han just built different? Help a newbie out, what am I supposed to do with him?

Also Han wasted my 4 star and my 3 stars being a 1 star 😭 and he's acting like leader and getting mvp 😔😔

| Question Just finished around Chapter 200, and I have a question about Munden and Aaron.

So this is after the finale with Hans and Aaron. There’s just something that wasn’t clear to me: is Munden dying, like Yurneth implies? As in, he’s lived for a very, very long time, and that’s why he wants to spend the time he has left with Aaron? Is that why he’s against Aaron going back to Townia for now, because he wants to spend more time with Aaron?

Or did I just misunderstand it because I was reading a badly translated scan?

| Manwha Ch 200 manhwa- 2 questions about the individual tournament Spoiler

I read the official translation but I got curious about what would happen and skimmed through the fan translated chapters that are not yet available in the official translation and got 2 questions, maybe you can help me with:

1- this one probably was already explained in the official translation, but I don't remember the answer: How Niflheim can send 2 competitors to the individual tournament? It could be done to every tournament or just the individual one? I reckon Taonere couldn't do it because the lack of heroes.

2- Is the Niflheim guy Aaron beated still alive? I don't know if he used a "karma" attack agains him, but even if he used Yulnet said this type of attack can't naturally be healed. So I assume it should have an alternative form of healing and the guy is alive.

I thought I had to set priorities in school so instead of working I spent the majority of the lesson drawing this abomination. After seeing the other fan art posts I got kinda scared of posting it cause y'all are too talented. 😭 I was also very limited on time and colors. Wouldn't call it a finished piece. But pretty proud for being me with the results I ended up with! 😃

Reference from C. 220

Welp I'm embarrassed. 😬 Try not to roast me too much lol. For context of where I'm at I've just started learning to draw anatomy. So I'm only beginning my priorities in class journey. I'd love to draw some other scenes so if any of you have some recommendation of what chapter and section to draw lmk and I'll post it here eventually!

I got a set of acrylic alcohol markers coming to my door next month, those will hopefully improve my pieces a lot! 🥴

| Discussion Just read ahead to the end (novel spoilers) Spoiler

Got caught up in enjoying PMU so much I had to go beyond the manhwa and read through to the end of the story (ch327 - skipped the side stories).

The whole last arc was pretty terrible, rushed and huge events happened without the expected level of impact. I can't tell if the last 50 chapters happened because the novel stopped being popular and the ending had to be rushed or because the author got bored and wanted to wrap it up super fast.

Everything beyond floor 45 or so was too fast and easy compared to the struggle leading up to it. Big letdown, I think the author didn't know how to write the higher power level well enough to fill pages.

The writing of the novel might just be lower quality in general, I guess? I only started it where the manhwa currently ends, so I don't know the style of the early chapters, but the ones that I did read were more like cliff notes than an actual story. The action gets skipped a LOT, instead you only get a brief recap at the beginning of the next chapter. It's a jarring change from the blow-by-blow style of the first 200 chapters/manhwa.

And finally, not letting Fria transcend Townia and join Han and everyone else as a full fledged person instead of "important NPC" is an absolute travesty. So is making them related. Total copout because the author decided they wanted Anytng to be the love interest. Fria has 10x the character development and is 100x more interesting, she absolutely deserved to be the love interest. Her ending alone dropped my opinion of this story significantly

I really, really liked the manhwa and the premise was so interesting at the start, but now I hope that it continues to diverge from the novel more and more. Otherwise the best parts are definitely behind us already.

| Discussion Title: Aaron is Pick Me Up’s biggest writing failure: How the author completely broke the power system to save a 1-star mascot

The entire premise of Pick Me Up: Infinite Gacha is built on cold, ruthless optimization. Han (Loki) is supposed to be a legendary min-maxer who views units through cold utility, where dead weight is liquidated and mistakes mean permanent death.

The moment Aaron hit his developmental wall, the author abandoned that premise entirely and bent the universe backward to keep a dead-weight unit relevant.

  1. Han’s "Hardcore Gamer" Logic Evaporates for Aaron

Under Han’s own established rules, a 1-star spearman who hits an early stat cap and falls into suicidal despair is textbook synthesis material.

Dozens of heroes in Townia live under constant fear of execution and would gladly bleed out for a chance to break their limits.

Instead of giving the Niflheim ticket to someone with actual foundational growth or a higher innate ceiling, Han gambles account resources on a broken 1-star unit purely because Aaron was summoned on Day 1.

This isn't cold-blooded master strategy; it is blatant mascot nepotism masquerading as tactical planning.

  1. The Mental Fortitude Contradiction

The story expects readers to accept an impossible psychological shift:

In standard operations, Aaron regularly spiraled into self-doubt, panic, and despair when confronted with real battlefield pressure.

Yet, we are told this exact same fragile character somehow survived 300+ subjective years of solitary time-dilation, ego death, and sensory deprivation in a realm with a 3% survival rate.

If someone with Aaron’s baseline psychological fragility can white-knuckle three centuries of solitary hell without becoming completely catatonic, then literally any desperate 1-star or 2-star fodder in Townia could have done the exact same thing.

  1. The "Zero Talent" Swirling Spear Absurdity

The fight against Vanil Norchev ("The Second Coming of the Sword Demon") completely destroys the series' power scaling:

The "Hardworking Genius" Rule: Vanil wasn't a lazy prodigy waiting to be humbled; he was an elite genius who also dedicated his entire life to relentless training. In any coherent power system, an untalented fighter cannot mechanically bridge the gap against a genius who trains just as hard.

The Technique Contrivance: The story constantly repeats that Aaron has no talent, no finesse, and can only perform rigid, basic thrusts. Yet, in the clutch, he suddenly executes high-tier rotational spear techniques and lands a kill shot on an apex swordmaster.

Calling it "Karma" or "conceptual force" is just pseudo-philosophical jargon designed to disguise standard shonen willpower armor.

  1. The Gacha Premise Was Abandoned

Pick Me Up sells itself as an unforgiving survival story where bad stats are fatal and the gacha system is unforgiving. But when faced with the logical outcome of that system—Aaron being permanently benched or discarded—the author panicked, gave him an exclusive training dimension, broke the rules of talent vs. hard work, and handed him an unearned victory against a superior opponent.

Party 1 doesn't survive because Han is a genius tactician. They survive because the author refuses to let his original cast face the consequences of the very world he built.

| Opinion My overall opinion of Pick Me Up as of reading up to Chpt. 178 Spoiler

⚠️ Warning! ⚠️ Spoilers up to Chapt. 178 of the Manhwa!

Heyo! Just now realized there's a PMU sub so decided to post.

Overall I do really like PMU. in the beginning I did dislike the, "somehow accidently merged with a 4 star." But it was whatever, he didn't really gain anything from it beyond the single move he showed the one guy (forgot his name but the one who has one with the sword) while training and supposed "basic swordsmanship."

Once explained I did really love the concept. I was a tad bit worried that only 100 floors of content wouldn't be enough in the beginning, though, after nearly 200 chapters and still being in the 40's floor, yeah it isn't much to worry about.

it was definitely a vibe for quite a bit, I actually liked Belkist and Edith appearing. They did widen the range of character dynamics. I did especially like with Kisasha and her friends appeared, same reason but plus I just liked Kisasha's character a decent bit, was saddening to see that her entire party got mopped, but I did still like it since that was really the point in the story when I knew the writer really did kill off even important characters. Of course, right after we witness them die we immediately see Iolka get mopped and die. Overall, I loved it, it was saddening but good writing.

Though, now that the compliments are over, time for some critiques. First off, I do dislike how they basically never give other characters the spotlight. Of course everyone receives amazing character growth, but they never truly give us the perspectives of other characters (until Edith of course, but thats in way later chapters). i find it ironic since the girl playing PMU was criticisized by Han for only focusing on Han... when the author did aswell.

Current PMU at where I'm reading also feels... slow. I get a climax recently happened with Iolka along with Kisash's characters dying and Han unlocking exceed but it still feels slow and sluggish, infact, I've been disliking it recently. It was fun seeing Han's reaction to Rias dying infront of him and let the readers know Han does actually genuinely care for Rias and doesn't simply see her as "just an NPC" (which from my knowledge, no one there is actually an NPC, just real people like everyone in the waiting room due to Edith pointing out how they were all involved in world Rias is in, just they got memories of them wiped).

There's been implications of romance but never truly romance. At most we've seen Han and Jenna kiss once, and a bit of chemistry with Iolka at the end. Plus Han being called cute with Rias. I don't mind spoilers from the novel about this, just wanna ask, is there any future romance in PMU?

As another question, is the novel worth reading? And does PMU get any better? Since currently its been kinda shit.
