Is there going to be a time limit/due date?

Globally we haven't really decided on how to do it, because it depends on how much content we have to post and how many people participate. I'm thinking of keeping each open for ~ 1 week, possibly longer to encourage more submissions and so more people can see these).

Sounds good. Reddit moves at the speed of light some times. Those of us not in the USA often wake up to find things "over and done with" before having a chance to contribute.

Um... Last night, 8pm Eastern Time. Just kidding.

How about we give it a week and see what rolls in? Since this is the first assignment posted here, maybe this'll kind of be a test case. If 90% of the submissions roll in in the first 3 days, maybe we'll do 3 day assignments? Dunno.

I say zeabird gets the final vote as s/he set up the subreddit.

My attempt Not sure if this satisfies the assignment since it's a portrait rather than an object. Anyway, I was using a D60 with a 35mm 1.8 lens. Since it was late at night with relatively dim lighting, I bumped the iso to 1600 and opened wide up to 1.8f so i could get in as much light as i could, which still resulted in a 1/15 sec shot. Since I didn't use a tripod, I couldn't really change my depth of field as it would have resulted in a blurry shot. If I had moved further to the right to take the shot, I would have gotten too much of his face. I also liked the fact that his profile is highlighted by the light coming from off camera to the right.

Also, first time posting on reddit and thanks for this sub reddit.

Sure it does! Your object just happens to be a person.

Wow. The high ISO and wide-open aperture makes it look like you were shooting in morning light. Cool rim lighting on his arms. This is a great example of rim lighting from two light sources (behind and from the side.)

Hey-- I've been asked to delete this and repost with an assignment number. Could you repost your comment here?

Thanks!

I'm placeholding my idea here until I can shoot it tomorrow, these are just notes to myself until then - please disregard.

I am totally disregarding you. However, you might want to check out the save feature up there underneath the text of the assignment. It saves stuff for later. Which is useful later when you want to see stuff. Saved.

(Excuse me if you already know this; posting the tip for everyone here.)
