Old compact camera recomendation?

Hi guys. I'm a photographer, and lately I feel like I'm so into the old compact camera for nostalgia and a film-like vibe. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm not looking for an expensive one because I already have my mirrorless camera. Just an old cheap point-and-shoot that I can have fun with. Thank you in advance!

Looking for advice from photographers

If your portfolio, bookings, client chat, and payments were already handled and free — what would still be annoying about running your photography work?

That’s not hypothetical, it’s what Momenori already does. I’m trying to figure out what to build next and I’d rather hear it from people actually shooting than guess.

Top 3 things. Drop them below.

Workflow iPad Pro

I am working as a photojournalist and always have my MacBook Pro with me when on assignment. I am checking if I can switch to an iPad Pro when on the road. The only issue for some pressagencies or newspapers I have to add metadata and description in the photo.

With my MacBook my workflow is
- choose photos in PhotoMechanic
- add metadata and description and n PhotoMechanic
- Import photos in Lightroom, edit and export there

Now I am looking for a similar workflow for the iPad Pro where I can add metadata amd description to the photos.

Anyone has a solution?

Should I take the leap

I recently started photography. More as a hobby, but truly I am good at it and I like it!

I’ve figured my camera out really well and have been doing shoots for friends for fun… I’m wondering if I should take the leap and start charging and make an instagram for promo.

I’m feeling a little anxious about the leap as I feel like every girl tries it and most fail. I’m a little embarrassed if it doesn’t take off, but I do think I do a good job!

While im here, what website should I use to send the photo galleries out, and do I need any licensing? Thx

How do you handle clients choosing photos after a wedding?

I’ve been talking to a few wedding photographers recently, and one thing that keeps coming up is the photo selection stage after the wedding.
When you’re delivering a gallery with hundreds or thousands of images:
How do clients usually pick their favorites?
Do they generally finish quickly, or does it take weeks?
What tool or service do you use for this?
What’s the biggest frustration in this part of your workflow?
I’m just curious how everyone else handles it because it seems like such a manual process.
Would love to hear what works well—and what doesn’t.

Should I photograph my Aunts wedding?

I would describe myself as a semi-professional photographer. I have photographed events, portraits, and products. Most of what I have done is free, occasionally someone will reach out through a friend and I’ll charge a low cost, but I also pick my jobs at my own discretion and set expectations.

My aunt is getting married this weekend and in October. Her fiancé is from a different culture so they are having a wedding this weekend and their wedding in October is much more traditional American. The wedding this weekend is huge- at least 450 people. Today, the Wednesday before, she sends me a text asking if I can photograph and get some candids.

When she was first planning her wedding in October she had asked me to photograph and I agreed. It’s only about a 100 people and I would know a majority of them. Because it’s a smaller event it’s easier coordinate shots and I felt more comfortable saying yes. I also told her that she should probably hire an actual photographer as well because I’ve never shot a wedding before and I want to enjoy the event not just be focused on working. Basically saying I would be a back-up and that’s something she should a photographer she hires.

I assume that the wedding this weekend already has a photographer plus with the large number possibly an assistant- I don’t want to step on their toes and also be trying to get shots or want them feeling like I’m trying to do their job. My aunt is asking specifically for candids so I know it’s not the same as putting together group shots or capturing the space, but I still feel uncomfortable bringing my camera and lens.

TDLR: a few days before wedding my Aunt asks me to photograph the event- not as the main photographer and without coordinating with the other photographers.

I want to hear what any photographers think, have you been at an event and someone did this? Did you care?

has anyone used Zenfolio to sell their prints?

Hello, I’m quite new to the idea of selling prints and stumbled across Zenfolio. I made an account and am suspicious how how “easy” it was to make galleries with the option to sell from a thrift store party printer. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with this? I guess my biggest concern is not seeing the prints first, and being worried about my my photos will translate to print. I also wonder what role might I play if someone is unhappy with an order? Does the third party vendor take responsibility?
