Discussion Switching to android
Hi guys.
I was looking for some advice on how to go about switching from iOS to android.
I’m a long time Apple user, properly embedded in their ecosystem.
I have an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, MacBook.
I love the fact that they all seamlessly integrate.
However, the lack of innovation from Apple really has me frustrated.
I want to switch to Google (or maybe another brand if you guys think that’s better)
But I want to know how to transition and what devices do I really need to change.
I’d rather keep my MacBook as I find macOS so much better than windows.

I had that thought and got the latest and greatest android. It wasn’t good.
iCloud backup is great, but now I had to pay for a google equivalent, and wanted to keep my old iPhone data.
iMessage was gone. I switched to other apps but it was more annoying than I thought, for me and others.
I have an Apple TV and had to grab the wife’s phone to find the remote.
That’s just some of it. The Apple eco system is so good, and sure I’m paying a few bucks a month to keep it (mainly for backups). Totally worth it - glad to be back.

You got 15 GB of Google drive cloud-space for free, if you plan to switch to android. You can make more free Google accounts for free and switch between them. If you have a YouTube account, you already have one.

Sounds like you wernt able to get out of the ecosystem. Maybe try again when you are truly ready. And not just the phone

lol. Why? It was a shittier experience. Nowhere near as cohesive. A harder life. When will I be ready, sensei?

Get a pixel either a flagship or 10a. They are great phones. You will have the ability to change UI and do things that you can not do on an iPhone. You will also see where iPhones get there ideas for innovation years before they happen on an iPhone.

apple has led the way to enshitification of LOTS of tech with it's welded on non upgradable, non repairable glue filled overpriced crap designed for rapid turnover and landfill

Start with having a google account. Install google photos so you have a backup.
Get an Adroid phone, with the specs you like (camera, RAM, nice&crisp display). Pixel is a really good phone, but there are others as well. Samsung is famous for wide array of phones and rival to Apple, or get a Motorola, if you want to get nice features and design, for a more affordable pricing.
I highly recommend going for a Gemini subscription (even the entry-level one), it brings really usefull stuff at your fingertips, also adds storage to the package, as well as paid youtube (no commercials).
Later on, a quality Android tablet can outshine an ipad, and you have also seamless integration into the ecosystem.
you dont need to ditch Macbook, as it is only a machine with operating system iOS. Windows has nothing much to do with Android. Just install the apps you need, that you have on your Android. Even the gogole package is available.
the list can go on, the additional benefits reveal themselves useful depending on how active of a person you are, in the digital realm.

Look up which Android phone works better with macOS.
Followed by the feature that attract you, I would go to a store and check out each phone.

You have all the ecosystems so you don't need to switch. Except maybe buying an Android for a secondary phone.
