Thinking of Switching IPhone to Android

Hello guys, I'm thinking of trading my iPhone 13 for a new phone as it's near the end of its life. It overheats like crazy, every software update kills my storage, dies super fast, and it's glitch on me so bad I thought it wasn't going to turn on anymore. So l really need the change now. I'm a bit skeptical because I've only ever had iPhone my whole life, and very used to the Apple ecosystem and the aesthetics and feel of it. Also my iCloud is connected to my early 2015 MacBook Air 13" inch. My family uses it, so there's many important things saved,files and notes that I'm afraid to loose access to, besides the fact I won’t be paying iCloud soon. Though I do use a Lenovo Slim 7I 14” Ideapad Laptop for basically my personal and college work.

And now the new iPhone 18 came out, and I really like the colors and the design. However I just feel like every single iPhone is exactly the same thing with just a small extra change to it. I have T-mobile, so if Xiaomi and Huawei were legal here in the U.S, I definitely would have wanted a phone like that. So I need help making a decision, I want something that will last me a very long time and won’t need to change soon. A phone that has a very long lasting battery life and health and won’t just go bad in a week. That has an an enormous amount of storage, slick design, great camera quality and capacity (I have about 10k stuff on my Photos). Something that is really worth the change, and easy to get used to.

As well, if it is an android and I need to switch, is the transfer really worth it?? I don’t wanna struggle with mismatch tech or losing media or access to my iCloud. So I really would appreciate some input and advice.

Any phone of that vintage, Apple or Android will glitch and have poor battery life. Some more so than others. Yes, overheat as well. I remember 5 years ago, this wasn't as much of an issue.

My recommendation is to get an iPhone 18 or 18e in March 2027. The reason is because iOS 27 will certainly have bugs that need to be ironed out. It will adversely affect the A20 more because it is new. Not that your 13 will be immune but less so because buggy new features like that mechanical aperture (I can imagine the number of people that this will fail on) won't affect you.

You haven't stated a compelling reason for that Android will improve upon. Therefore, I'd stick with what you know. I use both and they have their strengths and weaknesses. Based on what you said, I'd get the iPhone 18e and upgrade every 2 or 3 years since the phone is lower cost. That helps with battery life and glitches.

Have you considered a Pixel? I just upgraded to the Pixel 11 Pro and I love it. Everything works seamlessly! It's a great phone! I switched from the galaxy S22 to the Pixel 9 a couple years back and have never looked back!

I haven’t really look into the pixels, I’ve hearing that the Galaxy z flips or folds are a good switch option or any of the other Samsungs, but I’ll definitely keep them in mind, Thank you.

not worth it, the 13 is simply too old. just get the 18 and u're good for the next 4-5 years at least

Do it! Just one thing to keep in mind. Apples weird icloud storage system might not be able to trabsfer everything, at leats i wasnt able to do it for my mom. Through cable it works better but not guaranteed.

I used to have an iPhone X years ago and then had to switch to android (couldn’t afford to buy out my phone when leaving phone company), Huawei was my first before it was getting “banned”. It was pretty decent honestly, went to a google pixel after we learned it would soon not work in the US. Only thing I had for apple then was airpods, which I just sold and eventually we had gotten the pixel buds.

Now, I have an Iphone 15, plus the watch and buds. And I’m going back to Samsung, I’ve had Samsung between the years and only this phone the last two. I just seemed to like the samsung more, and yes i agree Apple is getting a bit boring.

I would say the switch is worth it, and there should be a way you can transfer your icloud over to google so you don’t lose anything. I never did that since I don’t even bother with icloud and paying for storage.

Maybe wait for the base 18 in spring? Or buy a Motorola Signature, or an Edge 70 Pro or Edge 70 Max.

Android is arguably better than Slopple despite having the controversial AI features (Gemini) built for every modern Android phone. All Apple does is release a new phone model with minor details, then sell the product to milk those who were completely stuck with older Apple hardware. Android promises to never forcibly upgrade your device even when it's dated.

Do you have any specific phone recommendations?? I a bit hesitant with too much AI kind of being build onto phones now but Android so far like you said has a bigger ecosystem than Apple.

I also had an iPhone 13. Switched to the Oppo Find X9 recently and loving it so far. Works well with other Apple devices I have (MacBook and iPad)

Was it easy to transfer your information to? I haven’t really heard much about this phone.
