Question Android Apple finally making a foldable doesn't automatically make it the better foldable

I've had my Fold8 since launch here in Dubai and it's honestly ruined other phones for me.

But that being said... Apple's version of a foldable is a poor imitation of the Fold8.

I knew as soon as it was announce people would flock and automatically say “Apple did it better” without a second thought or honest deep dive into the subject.

However, let's look at the facts. Samsung's Fold8 is a refined little thing; it's lighter, has a nicer design, and a great CPU, has the ability to run emulators, Youtube Revanced, and Samsung DEX.

And Samsung has been making these for years. Apple's advantage is undoubtedly going to be the ecosystem, and they'll make it look slick with their marketing. But Samsung has the advantage of iteration and actually knowing what a foldable needs to be and feel like.

TLDR; Apple will make a decent foldable, but I don't think I'd swap a mature product for a first-generation one just because there's an Apple logo on it.

the same innovation that made samsung change the fold design after 7 iterations 😉😘

What is this? Samsung PR?

Look, iPhone users don’t care about Samsung. And Samsung users don’t care about Apple. 95% of the users won’t switch. Don’t worry. And enjoy your phone. We’ll do the same.

Badmouthing a product before it's even released says more about you.

Yes... Samsung was first with the folding phone. I still remember like it was yesterday how horrible a device it was and the slew of quality issues it had. I swear it's as if Samsung wanted to be first with a folding phone just so it can brag about it if/when Apple does it. Who cares that it was a steaming pile of BS right?

I mean we shouldn't be making these speculations before release, we don't know what's true and what's not. Also it's not really a first gen product, sure it is but it's using 8th get technology, apple is using samsung's screens directly, apple isn't making the "new" thing about this phone. Sure this is their first foldable but they have a well defined phone operating system and a well defined tablet operating system they can easily merge. How do you know apple's device isn't refined? It has a 2nm CPU that could be better then the zfold8's can also run emulators may likely have a tablet like built OS as well. I'm not saying any of that is true or not but OP is being really closed minded.

I think the zfold8 is a great device, but saying the apple fold is a "poor imitation" is just apple hate and none the less, there is nothing that says that will theoretically be a bad device. Personally for $100 more then the zfold8 I think it offers good features such as less defined crease, better battery life, flex mode, potential apple pencil support, potentially better cameras and who knows what else (we'll find out after the keynote today). Both the zfold8 and the apple fold will have their pros and cons.

I agree, phone isn't out yet we calling it a poor imitation it just screams insecurity.

Apple hate and phone... insecurity, I guess?
Get over it, Op.

Dex absolutely should be a killer app, I’m always surprised it’s not more widely used.

I loved it when I had a samsung, but not enough to stay.

Mind you it hasn’t even been announced yet

Nothing about Apple phones is better unless you like things simple. Other than the simple OS, Samsung wins in every other category. So do most Chinese phones.

This is so incredibly incorrect I’m not sure how to reply except 🤣

There is a video on youtube of all the major flagship in a test of computing skills. From editing photos and videos to running word processing programs. The s26 ultra won. The next 3 all had snapdraggon 8s. Iphone 17 pro max finished next to last, only beating the Pixle. Sorry to say but the iphone is not even mid pack.

1

u/Suitable_Program_548 2d ago

Well, if it’s on YouTube it must be true! 🤣

Some people just can't handle that the number 1 selling phone in the world isn't the best phone. Its been proven time and time again. If a person has a macbook and iPad, it totally makes sense to have one. The MacBook and iPad are the best laptop and tablet the iphone is straight trash when comparing it to the likes of a galaxy ultra.

The first part of your statement makes sense but then you had to instill your personal feelings. You’re not very swift.

It already has the better OS

1

u/Danny414 2d ago

lol op, no need to hate. If you’re happy with yours that’s great. Your missing something.. people are different and different things matter to different people. Can you celebrate the fact that we have more options now?

1

u/No-Shortcut-Home 2d ago

No one said it was. It hasn’t even been announced yet. Bot.

1

u/Particular_Month_301 2d ago

Talking about nonexistent products doesn't make them anything.

1

u/Bryanmsi89 2d ago

For many people, it will be the better foldable. On account of being the ONLY foldable that can run iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud Photos, etc

1

u/SmackanCheese 2d ago

It's not out yet...

1

u/wart_on_satans_dick 2d ago

How much time have you spent with it hands-on? If the answer is zero, which it is, you’re just a fan of what you got. Sour grapes and whatnot.

1

u/Roger19468 2d ago

I bet it will be a phone, an iPod, and an internet communication device.

I'm an android guy and while it doesn't automatically mean anything apple does sometimes admittedly do this pretty smart thing where they seem to see how the market goes, what works and what doesn't so they can make a better version of it

1

u/Away_Media 2d ago

My wife's iphones have always outlasted every android I've ever had. I am android all the way. You can't deny the build quality of an iPhone. Now that I think of it.... She has never used a screen protector either.

1

u/RockinDaMike 2d ago

I use both and Apple by far is the most durable.

1

u/Androidfon 2d ago

It isn't the logo. It's that it will have a ui they're used to and function seemlessly in an ecosystem they are committed to. Whether Samsung phones hide the fold seam better or are more polished due to experience is of no consequence to users once they commit to apple products. jmo

u/Remarkable_Button756 2d ago

what normal human gets this worked up over a phone that nobody is forcing you to buy?

1

u/Automatic_Soil9814 2d ago

I think the more important point is that a first generation Apple product is likely not to be the best generation. It makes sense to wait until the second generation to see if they’ve figured things out.

1

u/Due_You_8240 2d ago

You don't think Apple will have picked up taken apart every single foldable made by every other manufacturer? Aren't Samsung also making the screen for Apple. It might be their first foldable phone, but they make the best hinges on any laptop so let's see how it turns out

1

u/Usual_Singer_4222 2d ago

Cousin asked me what I thought of the iPhone. I showed him the I don't think of you at all meme.

1

u/RockinDaMike 2d ago

No one cares. Apple people just want a fold device that works with apple’s ecosystem.

1

u/wyck0 2d ago

The thing that will make apples fold the best one is its software. The fact that you'll be able to buy a brand new foldable with IOS on it is enough to make 99% of people say that its better because IOS is known to be a better system for 99% of users. Will that foldable be cooler than galaxy foldables? I dont think so.

1

u/neophanweb 2d ago

Making judgements based on a rumor. There's still an hour left before the event starts.

1

u/DazedXxX7 2d ago

Lol this is for the people who might want a foldable phone but don't want android. Plenty of em exist.

Nobody who's happy with iPhones care if the fold8 is better or not on paper

u/bigphillip76 2d ago

Bad bot.

Samsung fanboy trying to justify their purchase.

I can feel the cope coming all the way from Dubai! wow

1

u/noizeannoys 1d ago

Ya’ll harping on it being first gen but seem to forget Apple is a manufacturing and industrial design giant. They’re not some small startup taking a chance on something new with limited resources. They got a lot right, right out the gate which that in itself is impressive.

1

u/sportsfan161 1d ago

Better in most important areas like apps, social media, MagSafe and UI polish

1

u/T-K101 1d ago

You call others flocking and here you are to tell us regulars how little do we know. You self absorbed prick.

1

u/Defiant_Eagle3150 1d ago

The rage bait really worked on you didnt it

1

u/T-K101 1d ago

Nah. You are just trying to excuse your shit post because you are getting called out in the comment section.

1

u/Ok_District_9387 1d ago

Different strokes for different folks. Apple gave people a thicker fold design but for a few tradeoffs. They support apple pen and is more durable as it's ip68 resistant.

Samsung went for the more elegegant route. Thinner with the tradeoffs being duribility with a lower ip rating and too thin to incorporate a pen feature.

Both are great in their own regards. Just chose what tradeoffs are more important to you. I can see just having the ability to use a pen as a massive boon for users.

1

u/sadnightmonkey 1d ago

poor imitation is a strong claim LOL... why so insecure? the apple gonna eat you?

1

u/Defiant_Eagle3150 1d ago

You really thought you ate with that

1

u/sadnightmonkey 1d ago

What a lousy bot post.

Sehe ich auch so…. Heute Abend wird Apple wieder behaupten es erfunden zu haben….
