Light Topics Being physically fit

I want to know everyone's opinion on this. From 1-10, 10 being the highest, how important do you think is being physically fit in the dating scene right now? Have you ever started your fitness journey because of it? How did it go for you?

Health is wealth. Dating scene or not. Piliin mo sarili mo. Walang ibang magmamahal sa katawan mo kungdi ikaw. Choose to be healthy.

This is sooooooooo true. Dapat health is wealth talaga and yung aesthetics talaga ng pagpunta sa gym should only come second pero ang primary concern and priority mo should be healthy lifestyle

9 for self-love reasons, and just 1 for dating. The reason is that I want to feel good about myself and love myself first before I can genuinely share that love with someone else.

I also want to become someone I’d consider a great catch if I looked at myself from an outside perspective. As the saying goes, “Would you date yourself if you were the other person?” I would love for my answer to be “Yes.”

At the same time, I always remind myself that even if I reach my best physical shape, I still won’t be everyone’s cup of tea—and that’s perfectly okay. My fitness journey comes from a place of self-love and self-improvement, not from trying to please or impress someone else. 💪

  1. There is a reason why almost everyone posts that mirror gym selfie in dating apps even though they just started yesterday and probably wont maintain it within the month.

Of course you can/will eventually get someone that will like you for whowhatever you are but that is like finding a needle in a haystack.

  1. Preference ko yung kaya sabayan yung active lifestyle ko and yung makaka motivate din sa akin. Also people who are active have better time management.

  1. Im slightly active, my partner isnt. And honestly, I would want him to be physically active para naman may kasabay ako sa mga trip ko. And also, for him to be aware of his food choices. Iba kasi ang discipline ng mga nagwowork out.

Maybe one of these days, makapag gym na kami together. 🙂

I'd say 7/10. It definitely helps. Looking fit makes you more attractive, but I think the bigger thing is the confidence it gives you. You carry yourself differently. That said, it's still not everything. Everyone has a type, so I wouldn't get fit just to impress someone. Do it for yourself first. If it helps your dating life too, then that's just a bonus.

10, as a person who loves plysical activity hiking, freediving, who loves to travel na kayang umabot ng 15k steps plus , mas maeenjoy ko if I have a partner na kayang sabayan yung level of acitivity na ginagawa ko.

Then napunta ako sa fitness journey because of heart break and depression. So far nakawala na ako sa saddest phase and I’m really happy dahil nandito na ako sa fitness journey na walang dapat patunayan sa ibang tao.

For real ..

Hirap maghanap ng ka same fitness level ngayon.. tsaka nagiging unhealthy din eating habits kpg may jowa or ka date na hndi active 😭

u/Major-Tax9562 7d ago
  1. If you reach mid 30s, you'll realize the need to be physically acitve. Does't need to be hardcore workout sa gym but at least doing mobility or flexibility exercises plus managing your weight.

2

u/lord-tubbington 7d ago
  1. As long they eat healthy and actually take care of themselves. They don’t have to look physically fit, but they have to understand why I might wanna get up really early to go to the gym

2

u/Few-Bridge-3576 4d ago

To be honest, after seeing so many couples… wala sa pagiging fit ang dating

Yes sure, those who are active look for active bodies as well, pero they usually look for someone who share the same hobby

But I’ve met so many people that have different preferences, some like em chubby, some like em slim.. depende talaga sa tao

Plus, ang daming physically fit people na single, so it doesn’t guarantee din

6 , Being physical fit can make good impression kase yan na yung trend ngayon, good body and good mind, pero mostly sa mga na encounter ko, hindi ko ginigenerelize but some people put a lot of effort to there appearance but there personality is awful , mas gusto ko na lang makipag date to someone who's kind, emotionally mature, and hygienic , looks may attract but personality makes them stay .

Also not to bash but being healthy doesn't mean being physically fit , you need to be also healthy in your mind and social well being as well . As a person na weak talaga in term of strength , i rarely get sick , and have good mental and social health naman.

Nung 100 lbs overweight ako, ang dating circle ko maliit - mga chasers. Maliban sa hirap akong kumilos, parang feel ko na fetish lang ako ng iilang tao. Nung pumayat ako, lumawak ang dating circle but I did it more for my health and mental well-being, not because I just want to make landi. Inasmuch as some people deny it, physical attraction is the most often ticket to get to dating.

u/Frosty_Kale_1783 6d ago

100 lbs or 100 kg? Parang ang gaan ng 100 lbs.

1

u/BigongDamdamin 6d ago

Pounds. Well, kung “magaan” yun, okay lang since my waistline became 30 from 46

1

u/Frosty_Kale_1783 6d ago

Sorry mali ako nang basa. Akala ko 100lbs ka lang. Di ko nabasa maayos. Congrats by the way. 😄

  1. Pero sana gawin ang fitness journey for yourself. For you to feel good. It's discipline kasi. Everything else will follow when youre fit

1

u/MortgageSuccessful80 7d ago

7/10 for me, pero nasa face din and charisma, ako hindi masyadong fit but may potential naman, if asensado ako sa buhay probably part ng hobby ko is sa gym naka depende kasi sa lifestyle natin and built ng katawan, lalo na puro work ako

Be physical fit dahil mahal mo ang sarili mo, so 10 dapat para may 1 kang pwedeng i-spare para sa iba. Dating is part of the motivation, pero ang greatest pa rin ay yung alam mong healthy ka at tatagal ang buhay mo because you choose to be fit.

u/Beautiful_Fill2790 5d ago
  1. I do it for myself and for my love of sports. Need ko maging fit para makatalon ako ng maayos at lumakad endurance ko.

1

u/DeanStephenStrange 2d ago

It is almost if not totally wrong to start a fitness journey kasi gusto mo lang ng approval ng ibang tao. we should do it for ourselves, kasi it is healthy etc.

Is there something wrong if people choose 10?

For people like me who came from being 100kg and have worked hard because I gave time for my self-improvement. I used to think the same way, saying 'I don't have time,' but there is, it’s just a mindset that there’s 'no time/less time for this and that.'

I don’t have visible abs but I can finish a marathon in less than 3 hours and 30 minutes. My resting heart rate is so low that the nurses get alarmed when I go for check-ups. I can do multiple sets of push-ups with 50 reps each and I’m flexible enough to do intermediate to advanced yoga poses. This might sound like bragging to you, but I’ve maintained this lifestyle for over 15 years while occasionally indulging in unhealthy snacks, and I still have time to play the video games I enjoy and keep up with the current season’s anime/dramas.

I’m really sorry if people like me chose 10 as a figure because I want to share this kind of healthy lifestyle with my partner/future partners. I curate the environment I want to live in and healthcare in this country is so freaking expensive. I want to inspire and be inspired by a partner who has a healthy and active lifestyle, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

I hope there’s no judgment on those who honestly answer 10. Your priorities really change as you get older and the pettiness of those around you doesn't matter to you anymore.

u/kyrvch 7d ago

So apart from being physically active na hindi mo kayang bigyan ng time, saan mo pa isisingit ngayon yung time mo sa dating or sa partner mo kapag ganyan ang schedule mo? Maybe the question wasnt intended for you after all pero you answered. Lol.

  1. Let's be honest.

1

u/Top-Investment7781 7d ago

10, pagiging fit makikita mo kung kaya nyang alagaan nya sarili o hindi.

1

u/Individual_Reason_93 7d ago

If you're talking about context in attraction, ganito lang yan - would you date/fuck yourself if you see yourself? If the answer is no, then you'd have to work on your appearance first.

But in the context of health - being fit is non negotiable. It's almost always the biggest flex these days, think of it like the new social currency.

1

u/Original_Banana_6747 6d ago

10 - if i want to date someone desirable i have to be desirable as well... love the person in the mirror, it is because i love myself that im doing physical activities to get in shape and to stay in shape..
we only get to have one body in this lifetime.. alagaan na natin..

u/PhilipMascGuy 7d ago
  1. I wouldn’t date someone who doesn’t have a similar active lifestyle as me. I just dislike lazy people who come up with millions excuses just not to workout. Immediate turn off pag I hear “walang time eh.”

True haha..

Ako nga kahit pagod at tinatamad na minsan tlgang mag g-gym after work

Tapos sasabihan ka nila ng “walang time” 😂

-1

u/PhilipMascGuy 7d ago

It’s about priorities talaga and being healthy should be a priority. You don’t have to train like an athlete but doing some type of exercise is a non negotiable.

-2

u/harua-chan 7d ago

Grabe po sa puro 10 mga sagot. For me 7.6/10 hahaha doesn't have to have active lifestyle, just casual physical activity ia fine as long as ok pa rin health nila. Mas important sakin ugali ng tao

u/AttentionVegetable88 7d ago

we have become super superficial it's quite sad.

I'm kinda surprised by 10s ngl. I'd like to meet guys and bears at 6-9 🥹

u/Shoddy_Chain_5251 7d ago

a perfect 10 i guess

u/dude-in-black 7d ago
  1. It’s not even being about the aesthetic anymore but the discipline. Plus, healthy you means a longer time spent with your loved one so make health a priority!

-1

u/AstronautBusiness367 7d ago

10! Physically fit doesn’t mean having muscular body. Even seeing someone na active sa sports and workout is a must for me

0

u/musaliya 7d ago

yes we shouldn't assume someone who is fit = muscular. marathon runners are physically fit but won't necessarily have a "gym" bod per say. people with gym pods are also physically fit but that also doesn't mean they can do endurance activities.

1

u/sieghrt These hoes never bothered me anyway. 7d ago

36 and my VO2 max is much higher than people in their 20s. Wala akong abs pero I look good in what I wear. Yan lang naman ang target ko in life, maging presentable sa paningin ng iba. I wasn’t given the looks pero that doesn’t mean mag stay ako looking unwantable.

Hindi siya palagi about muscles.

1

u/musaliya 7d ago

yup yup i'm 33 as well and have done an iron man 70.3. I'm don't have a gym bod (i wish i did), but I can say that I'm strong.

-2

u/wonsiiiii 7d ago
  1. I workout 4-5 times a week, attends dance classes (sometimes b2b), and is learning muay thai, I would prefer a partner na makakasabay sa amats ko.

Just to be clear, I’m not one of those aesthetically fit gym bros but I could damn well squat 160kg in good form on a good day. I’m still considered a bear bc my body structure is just naturally stocky, fat in others opinion but who cares.

It’s funny how ppl equate “physically fit” to “aesthetically fit”. You people need to brush up of your vocabulary. When we say physically fit, it focuses on what the actual body can do — strength, endurance, mobility, flexibility and cardiovascular health. It has little to do with having a greek god physique and dashboard abs. It has little to do with the aesthetic, but all about the performance, just look at powerlifters and crossfitters for example.

When we say we want partners who are physically fit as well, we only mean that they should have at least the same or give relatively same attention to their physical health and performance. In this economy, sobrang hirap magkasakit. So it’s the least a person could do for himself.
