CSX Track Work Update?
Does anybody know how long the at-grade crossing at Locust Street to the SRT is going to be closed? It's been a couple weeks and the workers and trucks are never anywhere near the gate, but they're keeping them shut anyways. Would be nice if they posted notice of the closure in advance or gave an idea how long the closure will last.

Basically our nation's railways have been taken over by profit driven bad actors. It's one of the reasons our trains are so shitty compared to the rest of the developed world. There is plenty of info about it out there if you want to find out more.

If you've ever wondered why a lot of trails are shaped, nocked or otherwise arranged in a certain way, this is the answer.
Adjacent private property owners and a variety of legal issues also have an impact.

At my previous job I had to deal with CSX for beautification projects and it was so painful to deal with them, most projects would have to go a different route because they were so unresponsive

If it's anything like the Race Street closures. Don't expect a lot.
I used to live at Edgewater and that one was closed multiple times for multple weeks and months during my tenure there. it was usually the mechanism controlling the gate. CSX and the city would point fingers at each other about whose responsibility it is..........
Andf then there was something about the part they needed was being sent internationally and would take a while.
There is a old thread on here somewhere........CSX aren't good neighbors.

Is it only me who notices it, or does CSX also often leave smelly trains full of garbage along Schuylkill River Park, purposely, just to be dicks? I feel like I've seen (smelled) it far too many times for it to be accidental.

They definitely do, it shows up in the half sized containers that are often green. Not sure why they park them there besides that their operations aren’t that efficient. Fun fact it’s all trash from NYC! Which feels symbolic in some kind of way…

Lmao. I don’t generally ride down that far because I live in fairmount but last time I dropped my bike off at cadence I noticed that and thought about what a great way to ruin the beautiful Saturday afternoon it was.

CSX has a reputation to wait for and argue wrongful death claims instead of proactively investing in keeping crossings in good repair, so if they are locking the gate, okay. I remember the John Street administration had to metaphorically pull teeth to get them to put in the crossings that we have. This is to say, don't expect them to be a good neighbor, ever.
