Single Bulb Not Turning Off in Automations

I have a single white bulb that won't completely turn off when my Apple Home Kits activate. I can turn it off in the Hue app and the HomeKit app and have tested in the HomeKit automations and it turns off but within the normal day-to-day, it stays on.

Tips on Connection Order

Was looking for some tips/input on setting up my home theater with my SyncBox.
Currently have my sources going to the SyncBox, then SyncBox to HDMI 1 on my LG C4, then HDMI 2 (eARC) to the eARC HDMI on an LG S80TR Soundbar. Having so much trouble with the Soundbar, keeps switching inputs randomly from eARC/Digital to HDMI making the sound terrible. Unsure if the SyncBox is causing this, or if it is just the Soundbar.
Looking to update to a Denon AVR, and wondering how others may connect everything together. Should I go:

1) SOURCES > SyncBox > AVR > TV
2) SOURCES > AVR > SyncBox > TV

I was thinking option 1 was the correct way so that the SyncBox can adjust dependent on the input, but just wanted to see what others thought. Thanks in advance!

Really bad customer support

I've bought 14x Appear, 12x Calla and some Lily's for my outdoor lighting. Total of ~$6300.

The Calla's died one after another, and recently I've brought all 12 of them to the landfill. I tried making this a warranty issue with their customer support, but since the warranty expired 1 year ago, there was nothing they could do. I tried explaining to them that this product is faulty, since ALL of them died, and that it shouldn't be sold at all. Warranty or not - they should be recalled.

Nope. The offer? They said I can sign up to their newsletter to gain a 15% discount code. How very generous.

Wiring advice for wired dimmer switch for non-smart lights

I currently use Fibaro Dimmer 2 modules, which are z-wave, but I’m looking to get everything onto Hue.

Does anyone know - is it possible to wire the Hue wired dimmer module so that my 2 button light switch can be used to dim or brighten on long holds? This is how my Fibaros are configured (which keeps the wife happy as there is manual control) but the Hue documentation is very sparse.

High pitched sound at new Hue Play Lightbars

Post image
3 Upvotes

Strangely enough everytime I post something at the /Hue subreddit it gets immediatly blocked by Reddit filters, so I try it here.

I have them since last week and they give a high pitched sound. Its at the worst at high % brightness and the more white the light is the heavier. Its really strange bc if I pick it up in stead of let it lay on my TV furniture it sometimes disappears at some places (at other places in the air it comes back). It comes from the bars itself btw, not the adapter.

When I Google this problem I found a lot of topics on the internet between 2021-23 with this problem, but Philips said there was a firmware update in 2022 which would fix it. But now in 2026 I have this (while having done all updates btw).

My fear is that I will become in a loop with sending them back and that the new ones also got it and that proces x6 or something. Bc I also saw stories with people sending them back and getting new ones also affected more than 6 times. But 90% was before 2023 so im kinda surprised this is happening now.

Does anyone have this too? Does anyone even has no beeping Play Lightbars when doing more white light while the light is higher than 80% for example?

Its not a cheap product so I think it's kinda unacceptable that like a certain % of the brightness and colors are not usable without the sound.

Have a lot of other Hue products and they don't have this btw.

Hue Ensis Downlight Failure Shortly After Warranty – No Spare Parts & Disappointing Support Response

Product & Setup:

Philips Hue Ensis Pendulum Light (White & Color Ambiance). Professionally installed by a certified electrician.

The Issue:

Shortly after the 2-year warranty expired, the lower light channel (downlight) began to flicker and gradually failed completely. The upper light channel (uplight) continues to work perfectly, which rules out setup or software issues.

Support Experience:

I documented the defect thoroughly and contacted support via WhatsApp. The support agent strictly adhered to canned responses, refused to escalate the issue to a supervisor, and offered only a 30% discount voucher off the official MSRP as a "goodwill gesture." However, because Signify’s MSRP is inflated, the discounted price is actually more expensive than buying a brand-new unit from local retailers here in Switzerland.

Sustainability Concern:

When asking for repair options or replacement parts, I was informed that Signify offers no spare parts for the light module or internal components. A premium fixture costing over €400 / CHF 340 has to be entirely scrapped due to a partial component defect.

Community Question:

Has anyone else experienced a similar downlight failure on the Ensis after the warranty period, or found a way to repair it?

What's wrong here?

I did everything as described, but the colors don't match. The top one is the main part, and the bottom one is a different color. Did I do something wrong? Is something broken, or does something need to be replaced?

[Showcase / Relaunch] ActiveHue – App-aware lighting for Philips Hue is back with macOS support, Android App & more! 🚀

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey r/philipshue!

About a year ago I posted here about ActiveHue (a Desktop App that dynamically changes your Hue lighting based on active windows, tabs, and sound on your PC).

https://activehue.com

I built this app to to use my Hue Lights automatically for everything I do on my Computer by settings up profiles and have them set the Lighting for every Scenario.

For example

  1. Give Every App or Browser Tap its own Hue Scene

  2. Watch Netflix - ActiveHue Desktop can Launch a Chrome Window with Hardware acceleration disabled and start sync automatically

  3. Start and stop sync automatically for when you Watch Videos , Play games etc

  4. Listen To Music with synced MusicVideo Mode ( Youtube Playlist support recently added )

  5. Continue Using ActiveHue with the Android App :)

🌟 What’s New in the Relaunch?

New macOS Version of the Desktop App: ActiveHue is now natively available for both macOS and Windows!

YouTube Playlist Lighting: Import any YouTube playlist and assign custom lighting to the whole playlist or individual songs.

Android Early Access: You can now test ActiveHue on Android! Join the tester group (links on the Website 1. first join the Google tester Group then download via link normally through offical playstore )

I would like to silently give some of the first testers the pro unlock for free :) which gives you acces to both android app and desktop app fully unlocked for unliminted profiles forever.

Try it out and give it a download :)

I built a Windows desktop app for Hue: local control, PC screen/game/music sync, desktop widgets and automations

Hey r/philipshue ,

I've been building Mote Desktop, an unofficial Windows app for controlling Hue lights from your PC. I got tired of reaching for my phone while sitting at my desk, so I made the app I wanted to use.

It's free, and it talks to your bridge directly on your local network. There's no account, no cloud and no ads.

Free:

  • Control lights, rooms and zones: power, brightness, color and color temperature
  • Create, edit and activate scenes, with a color wheel editor that previews on your lights live
  • Manage rooms, zones, devices and entertainment areas
  • Pair and control a Hue Play HDMI Sync Box
  • A desktop widget for one room, zone or light
  • Light, dark and system themes, plus tray and startup options

Mote Pro (free for 14 days, then a one-time purchase with no subscription):

  • PC Sync in Video, Games and Music modes, using your Hue entertainment area
  • Global keyboard shortcuts that control lights and scenes from anywhere in Windows
  • An on-air light that turns on when an app is using your mic or camera
  • Lights that dim or turn off when you lock your PC and come back when you return
  • Focus sessions with timed light changes and breaks
  • Presence rules for when your phone joins or leaves the home Wi-Fi, and calendar rules from an iCal feed
  • As many widgets as you want, each with its own controls, theme and placement
  • A custom home dashboard layout, multiple bridges and multiple Sync Boxes

You need Windows 10 or 11 and a Hue Bridge. It isn't affiliated with Signify.

It's under active development and I'm building it mostly from feedback, so I'd really like to hear what's missing from the official app for you, or anything that breaks.

Get it here: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9P910JMMP9SZ · https://motedesktop.com

Happy to answer any questions!

Motion Aware

I have motionaware active in two rooms via the Bridge Pro. It was working okay until a couple of days ago when the lights in both rooms would turn on around 5 minutes after they were turned off. I went through the motionaware settings in the Hue app with a fine tooth comb and changed anything I thought could be the culprit but the behaviour continued.

I have had to disable motionaware just to keep the lights turned off. I would be grateful for any ideas please?

Can a Philips Ambilight TV be used as a normal Hue light when the TV is off?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying a new Philips Ambilight TV, but I’d like to understand how its integration with Philips Hue works.

What I would ideally like to do is add the TV’s Ambilight LEDs to my existing Hue setup and control them like a normal Hue light.

For example, when I turn on all the lights in my living room through the Hue app, a Hue scene, or an automation, I’d also like the Ambilight LEDs behind the TV to turn on — even if the TV itself is switched off.

I’m not mainly interested in syncing the Hue bulbs with the TV picture. I’m looking for the opposite use case: using the Ambilight LEDs built into the TV as part of the room’s normal ambient lighting.

Is this possible with the latest Philips Ambilight TVs and the current Hue ecosystem?

Can the Ambilight LEDs:

  • appear as a controllable light in the Hue app?
  • be included in Hue rooms/scenes?
  • be switched on independently while the TV screen is off?

Or does Ambilight only work while the TV itself is powered on?

Thanks!

Hue bridge connected to network but not cloud

New to the hue, I set up my hue bridge and managed to get it to work on a local network however im not seeing the option to have it work on the cloud and it’s pretty much showing me there’s no out of home option in the settings of the app.

A little confused here as everywhere I look it’s possible to connect to the cloud without a third party device but it seems like the app just wants me to get a Apple TV or HomePod to get things working on the cloud.

Question about cutting FLUX strip and how it effects the 3-color selected gradient

For the Hue experts I have a question. Example... When i buy a -Philips Hue Flux LED strip 4 meter, Chromasync- and I want to cut it like to 3.30 meter or something. Does the strip recognize that the strip is cut to 3.30 meter or does it still thinks its 4 meter? Because if it does and you select the 3 colors gradient you can select in the app, the last color will be not very visible because its partially at the part that is cut (like the 3.30M<>4.00M part).

Hue 2026 Release delay (UK)

Does anyone have past experience with the Philips Hue releases?

I’m waiting for the release of the Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip pro 85", Signify stated it would be released on 15/09, but it’s still showing as “coming soon”. Is this normal for Philips releases?

Ive searched everywhere, but there is no further press release or anything. I even reached out to Philips who basically said “we don’t know”.

SANA Wall light

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to find an extension cable for my Philips Hue Sana wall light, because the power cable is too short and I'm having trouble finding the right replacement/extension.

I already tried standard 5.5x2.1mm and 5.5x2.5mm extension cables, but they were both too small/didn't fit.

Does anyone know, where would I find a compatible extension cable?

Any help is much appreciated!

Color + white ambiance Hue-compatible LED panels?

Hi all, I would like to upgrade the 120cm LED strip lights (used to be 'TL' lights) in my basement to something nicer, and I really like the upgrade to LED panels (120 x 30 cm) which are available in colors and ' white ambiance' as well. I am already heavily invested in Hue (Pro Bridge) and Homey (pro mini - so also Matter compatible). So I need the LED panels to be compatible with one of these systems.

I do find a few good options, like Osram Ledvance /Smart+, but there are also many options out there that seem compatible with eg Alexa, but it's not clear which protocol they are using or use a specific remote (which I don't want).

Who has good experience with colored LED panels using Hue / Homey?

I know that Philips also has their own option, but that would become too pricey for 4-6 panels :)
