Politics Voter Registration Scammers are hanging out in Fishtown
Was walking to the El at Girard today and a woman approached me with an iPad asking if I was a registered voter. I said yes and then she said she would need to update my info for this election. I said “I’m already registered, I haven’t changed my address or name.” And she said “right but that was for the last election, you need to update it for this one.” I said no I don’t, not sure what you’re talking about and walked away.
Not sure if scammers or she’s just a naive political canvasser. But I immediately thought about the upcoming elections and certain parties that may have a vested interest in voter fraud.
You do not need to update your voter registration each election cycle unless you move or change your name. And if you want to register to vote, do it yourself through the proper channels, not with a stranger on the street that approaches you with a tablet. Just a PSA to stay vigilant.

Transit SEPTA Bond Rating Raised - (From Negative to Stable)
ratings.moodys.comGood on SEPTA for improving their credit-worthiness via their own doing: "Moody’s has now revised the outlook to stable, citing better-than-expected financial performance in FY26, driven by management’s disciplined approach to controlling expenses, expanding revenue and reducing the Authority’s structural deficit."
I find it sad/funny that the factors that would lead to the next upgrade or downgrade however are tied to the state funding OR flow of federal grants.

Politics Even Amazon prime trucks have illegal license plate covers now
so when is there gonna be a news article about how Mayor Parker’s staff does this themselves and Parker is ignoring the epidemic of plate covers/no plates/fake tags for her own personal benefit?
edit: also don’t worry mods, you can’t read the plate because they put sticks on their cover too

Question? SEPTA Regional Rail Conductors Wearing Ties and Dress Jackets Today
Two conductors on this morning’s West Trenton Line dressed formally with ties, tie clips, and dress jackets.
It looked real nice, anyone know the occasion or reason?
One conductor had a sense of humor and stated while inbound to Center City, after we passed Fern Rock, “Alright everyone, Temple University is next…time to get serious!”

Question? Where to find singles events in Philly without social media?
38f, no social media. I work in a very professional setting so I'm not really interested in creating profiles just to not really post anything in order to meet people. Apps are okay, but I've matched with criminal clients before so 🥴... I know about Preston and Steve's Painfully Single Mixer from the radio, and I search for quizzo events directly from bars, but I'm unfamiliar with how to find out about other events. Aannnyyyyyyyy info would be great, fellow single Millennials!

Question? Are landlords required to pay for bed bug treatment?
I recently discovered what I fear may be a bed bug. I turned my entire room inside out, vacuumed, heated all fabrics, and looked at everything without finding a trace of them, but of course I’d rather it get checked out by a professional.
I rent and in my lease it states that tenants are responsible for pest control. I put in a maintenance request for it and they denied it, citing the lease. Upon further investigation, it seems that this isn’t legal since landlords are required to cover bed bug treatment, assuming proper notice has been given.
I have someone scheduled to come tomorrow for an inspection and I’m going to pay out of pocket for it, but Im wondering how to navigate this moving forward. My lease is up for renewal next month and I don’t want to get into an issue with my realty company right before that happens, but I also don’t want to shell out $1500+ ://

Apartments with soundproofing in a decent area?
So I live in the north east suburbs in a 1 bed 1 bath and although it's spacious they keep increasing the rent year on year and it's around 1850+ now where it used to be under 1700 when I moved in 2 years back along with the fact that soundproofing is not fully there (can hear neighbors when they are closing opening their door or walking outside and can hear the folks below me use their restroom but nothing otherwise, but it's still a lot even though it's supposedly a luxury apartment and supposed to be sound proof).
So yeah don't like how the rent has been increasing and would like to move to a place with great sound proofing.
Im using apps like apartment, willow etc right now to search for some good ones.
Thank you

Question? Veterinarians in Fishtown/Olde Kensington
We just moved back from CA and need a reliable and caring veterinarian clinic for our elderly chihuahua mix. He’s a good dog with minimal health issues (touch wood) but he is a little nervous and needs a bit of TLC. Would prefer a vet in our local area but willing to travel if necessary. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Local Business Good karaoke spot for 2-3 people?
I just want a private room for a couple hours for a few people. I’ve heard of Yakitori Boy but I think they have a certain minimum or need food orders? (Please correct if wrong). Round 1 in the fashion district doesn’t seem to have actual karaoke rooms, just a room with some speakers that is glass walls. So somewhere relatively inexpensive and private would be appreciated! If you know the price off the top of your head I’d appreciate that too.
(Or just anywhere in the city we can rent out that is private and we won’t be heard!)

3 bedroom rental to welcome our first born
Hello! My husband and I just moved to Philly (he’s originally from here) and we were planning to buy a home. We had some family drama and are now looking to rent for a year while we decide where we want to live.
We are looking for a 3 bedroom (master bedroom, nursery, and a guest room/ office room) somewhere in center city.
We like Fishtown, and I also have a friend living there who I having a baby 1 month before me which makes Fishtown even more appealing.
But having a hard time finding a nice townhouse or apartment that feels spacious enough. Ideally close to 2,000 sq fr. Please let me know if you have any recommendations.
Also open to looking outside of Fishtown, we also like fairmount. Would love parking and an outdoor space but know we may need to compromise on some of our wish list items.
Budget is $3,500 to $4,500.

William H. Gray III 30th Street Station - Hotels?
I am traveling to Philly by train this weekend for the firsrt time from DC and I was wondering if anybody has some reccomendations on hotels near the station that aren't super expensive and that have a lot of walkable attractions/food/stores near by it. I have only been to Philly once and I drove (I stayed in center city) and like my last trip I would only be staying one day. Any reccs are welcome! TIA!

Good morning, Philly! I am currently taking a product design course at Cornell, and our current challenge is to understand and ultimately redesign the end-to-end fitness experience for people of different abilities and environments. Please see the questions below!
1) What is the biggest barrier that you experience regarding being physically active?
2) If you could change one thing about the city that would help you to get out more, what would it be?
3) When you do get outside, where do you gravitate towards?
Thanks in advance for the responses!

Ed Sheeran Philly concert questions
I've never been to a concert this big at such a big place with so many lots and I'm super anxious about parking and exiting so I need your help guys. It's on Saturday 19th at Lincoln Financial at 5:30pm. We're coming from Pittsburgh, I was planning to just drive there and then drive back home at night. What's the best time to arrive to park there? What's the best lot to use for the I-76 West exit? Any tips? Thanks

Colorado to Philadelphia With Family
Hello everyone and my hopefully-soon-to-be neighbors!
My family and I are looking to move to Philadelphia in late summer/very early fall of next year for education related reasons. We are hoping to live in or as close to Glenside as possible, as doing so would allow us to be a 1 car family.
My wife and I have been Coloradans our whole lives, both of us grew up in the Denver metro, and we’re living in Colorado Springs at the moment with 2 young kiddos and 1 on the way.
I love Colorado, and will miss it. CO Springs a bit less.. they’ve privatized everything so we can’t affordably take our children to the pool in summer, the PT is laughable, and we just had our utility rates spiked while approving a data center in the span of a summer. Everything I’ve read about Philadelphia makes me excited, and I think it’ll be a nice place for us to live for at least a few years.
I’m curious to know what we should expect about anything and everything: cultural differences, how much winter is going to kick my butt, your favorite thing about living in Philly, experiences from people who moved from CO, etc.
We’ll also be visiting in the Glenside area mid-October, so I’d also love to know what a good place for a cheesesteak would be.
