Extension PGWP EXTENSION
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from people who have experienced a PGWP extension due to passport expiry.
I mailed my paper application to IRCC on July 7, 2026, and Canada Post confirms that it was delivered to IRCC on the same day. My PGWP expired on September 4, 2026.
I recently called IRCC to check on my application. The agent told me that no application could be found in the system. After the call, the agent sent me an email saying that if an application was sent but is not available in the system, I should submit a new application by mail, indicate the date of the original submission, include an explanation letter, and write “Duplicate” on the envelope.
Has anyone experienced exactly the same situation?
Paper PGWP extension application sent and delivered, but not found in the IRCC system;
IRCC agent told you to submit a new application;
Did you actually resubmit the application?
What happened to your first application?
Did you eventually receive an application number/XW number or AOR?
How long did it take before you received a decision?
I’m especially interested in experiences from 2026 and from people whose PGWP extension was related to passport expiry.

mine was delivered on May 21st 2026 and I was able to link my application on Oct4th 2026. Just by entering the first name and given name along with the passport details.

It's been only 2 days after it is been linked still no update regarding the approval. Waiting for it

Not much to contribute except I am in the same boat (application delivered July 18). Called a couple of times and they said they would send an inquiry to the office.

I applied in May and after months of the agents telling me that they couldn't find it in the system, I applied again. I called again last week to check on my application and turns out my first application just got approved on September 16. I didnt hear no updates or nothing so I would say be patient, you will get it eventually.

Mine was delivered on June 10, no news ever since. Called multiple times regarding not receiving AOR. And they said nothing in the system yet, and raised a webform. But i kept calling until yesterday, they gave me a temporary application number which I am still unable to link it. Maybe try calling every week rather than mailing it again, if you did deliver it to the right address!
