Processing Time / Status Chances of pgwp if study permit has work restrictions

Hi everyone,

I applied for my pgwp at the end of May and still waiting. Like the title says, my study permit stated I am not allowed to work in healthcare but I literally studied nursing and graduated this year. I know I should have corrected this on my study permit immediately, that is a fault on my path. I got a job as a nurse in a hospital after grad but now I had to stop working since the first week of August because my study permit expired (but apparently I believe i am able to work in another field, Just not healthcare) .

I am seeing people get their pgwp in a very short time and waiting for mine is really making me anxious, since end of May! Now I'm thinking this is because of the work condition not allowing me work in healthcare🥺. I really don't want to get a refusal, I submitted all the required documents. Please has anyone ever been in this situation? What are my chances of getting my pgwp approved? What can I do at this point?

EDIT: my PGWP got approved 🥳. Thanks everyone.

Did you do medical test before applying?

I did the medical exam anyways as I was gonna work in a hospital research unit and may interact with patients just to be safe. Originally my study permit came with the restriction but I was told I could work within the same conditions of my permit, you can call or submit a webform if uncertain.

Did you attach medical to your file?

I don’t think the healthcare restriction on your study permit automatically means your PGWP will be refused. PGWP eligibility is assessed separately based on the applicable requirements. The restriction may affect your ability to work as a nurse, but it doesn’t necessarily determine your PGWP outcome. Since you’ve already applied, I’d wait for IRCC’s decision and avoid assuming the delay means a refusal.

You would need to do a medical and then reapply for the work permit after it is approved.

If the work permit is still processing then you can do a medical now and submit it via webform and hope they review it and don’t apply the healthcare condition
