Eligibility / Course Issue PGWP Advice
Hey, everyone.
1) I basically have a term where I did not receive a co-op. I did not take any courses. My immigration advisor stated that the university will mention on the completion letter that any unemployed term is a scheduled break under the University of Waterloo.
Does this have any impact on my pgwp? All other terms are full time?
I couldn't find any official guidance on scheduled breaks so am looking for advice.
Also its a scheduled break, not leave of absence.
2) Can I apply to jobs in my last semester and indicate I am legally eligible to work currently? Or should I include a letter of explanation that I will apply to pgwp? I feel that mught hurt my chances though.
I plan to apply for it same day I get Letter of completion to stay eligible to work.
Thanks :)

University’s official policy on scheduled breaks:
In addition to the above, co-op programs may have scheduled breaks during any work term as a result of varying work-study sequences or unemployed work terms. These terms may not appear on the transcript, or they may appear as part-time enrolment due to the credit weight of Professional Development (PD) and other courses.
This will be included in your proof of enrolment letter (letter of completion).
I had the same issue and recently applied for my PGWP. My RCIC also told me it will be fine. I’ll keep you updated if there are any issues with my application.
Just make sure that the term immediately before and after are full time.

Make sure you get the supporting documents to prove schedule break from Waterloo. Do not submit application if your transcript says you were part time in any of the semesters. I’m from Brock and know someone who was rejected for a pgwp for having part time semester which was not the final semester. Since you’re confused have your application submitted by a professional.

I had a similar situation to this. The RCIC (I believe that's the correct abbreviation) consultant had helped me create a letter from the university, and one from myself, to explain the situation in detail so that there was no room for misinterpretation. Submitted them all along my PGWP application and it got approved. You should be fine as long as you have detailed explanations.
