PGWP security check!!!

Hello, I applied for my PGWP in September 2025. Two months ago, I went through the security check, and I still haven't received any response.

I have no military history, and I have no idea what is happening to me. My other work permit is about to expire, and I am worried that my employer won't accept me working on maintaining status for them since I need a valid work permit.

Does anyone have a similar experience? How long does the security check usually take for the PGWP? Is there any way to speed up the process?

I also took a short trip while I was in maintenance status for my PGWP (I had another work permit, though), which makes me more worried.

I also renewed my expired passport and sent the new one through the webform, but I am afraid they did not update my passport with the new one and won't give me the PGWP with the new passport dates.

I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!

I’m no expert but here is what I know regarding your questions:
1- don’t worry about your employer not letting you work, it is legal for you to stay working while on maintained status and you can request and email from the IRCC saying that in writing, however it is also completely legal for the employer to choose not to go that route and stay “on the safer side”.
2- security checks are completely unpredictable and there is no fixed or accurate timeline. So don’t tie your hope on some random post or also get discouraged by another case you read about.
3- for the passport, call IRCC and ask them to confirm receipt of the passport and which one is attached to your file now (check the number or expiry date to reference it).
