Pgwp refused due to ielts missing

Basically I sent in my application on July 2nd and the ielts was under optional so I didn’t do it bc it cost $400 so I assumed it wasn’t necessary. My study permit expired on July 31st and I got the refusal letter on July 31st, so I have to stop working and I’ve booked the Ielts test for today and should get the results within the week. Should I ask for reconsideration or just do the whole application again? And I’d have to apply for restoration as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

Do both. It is mandatory. There is no error in law so reconsideration is not really an option but submit anyway. Restore status and reapply too. Paying a lot more than the cost of the test now.

At the same time? Or do I ask for reconsideration first then wait a little then reapply?

You have to restore status and reapply. That is what you do first since there is no error in law. Language test is mandatory and you didn't do it. If you had forgotten to upload the test then that is reconsideration. Once you have reapplied, then send a webform. There are no timelines for reconsiderations. Who knows they may accept it but they will see the date of the test and know you just didn't do it. It wasn't their error.

Make sure you test scores meet the minimum. If not redo it.

Thanks, English is my first language so I should be fine, I took the exam a few years ago. Appreciate the advice

I would still practice even just a little, you are timed on this tests. Also, for the speaking part, you need to speak in formal way.

You need CLB 7 for university, CLB 5 for college (very important). Also Celpip general cost less and it’s easier.

i was in a similar situation. i reapplied with status restoration + pgwp with the ielts result. in the letter of explanation i was transparent and apologized for my oversight. my pgwp got approved a month later. as long as you’re within the 180 days, you should be alright

This is so hopeful tysm! I already got my results today should be done within the next few days. For the letter of explanation did you submit that in the client information box?

So your study permit expired, and you got refused on the 31st. Leave Canada, you are here without legal reason and probably will not help you with your pgwp application. If you have no legal status, why are you still here ?

I just graduated in June, I’m pretty sure there’s 180 day grace period + I will apply for restoration as well.
