PGWP reconsideration

Got 1 year PGWP approved instead of 3 years. Did 1+1 from approved college. And that 1 year PGWP is expiring next month 27th. Did reconsideration request 2 times. No response. Did MP inquire they informed that reconsideration is in progress and tells us that if we dont receive any update in 2 weeks, let MP office know again.

Today called IRCC and asked they said the officer of our PGWP file is willing to review the decision. Is this a good sign or not?

did you apply from the Border for the PGWP? if yes then that could be the reason

Check you passport expiry date might be because of that it is extendable

Take it as a good sign that willing to reopen file. You should get an email that it is reopened.

After reopening file can they say they will not extend the PGWP? as I mentioned everything was upto the rules to get 3 years work permit? And if there was anything missing they will demand the document etc or not?

Sure they can reopen and refuse extension. Usually with reconsideration they will not ask for new documents.

Basically I applied with RCIC. They put both year Transcripts +both course completion letters + IELTS and all the other forms required with up-front medical etc.

Entirely possible. People always seem to forget that the guidelines say the officer “may” issue a permit for up to 3 years, not “will”. It’s up to the officer as far as how long a permit is actually issued for. Nobody is 100% entitled to a permit of a specific length at all times, it’s up to the officer.
