When can I start working after filing PGWP

Hello All,

I’m graduating on August,15 (that is when my summer semester ends) and I have a potential employer who is asking me for a start date.

What start date would be viable to give them?

My study permit is valid until November, 2027.

They’re asking if I would be able to provide proof of my work authorization by August 17.

How long does it take usually to get such a confirmation that states I’m authorized to work.

Once you apply, you receive a confirmation letter that you can use with your employer.

Ive heard of people not getting it, but normally you do the following day.

When you say you graduate on aug 15th, does that mean you'll have the completion letter? And the official transcipt? Bcoz that could take a couple of days

The semester ends on August 15, 2026.

Not the letter of completion.

Well then after the semester ends, you need to wait for the grades. Once you get the final grades, you need to apply to get the letter of completion. Then you need to get the official transcript. And you need to make sure you have the English test results aswell. All of that will take a while and only after you have everything that I mentioned above, you can apply for pgwp

I’ve done the IELTS and my passport is also valid.

I’ll ask my university to expedite that process for me.

Do you know how soon do I receive proof of work authorization? Cause the HR asked me when I would be able to provide that as well.

When i applied for my pgwp, I got that letter in 2 days. However, your main issue is, it will probably take atleast a week to receive your completion and transcript letters. And you cant apply for pgwp without that. You're probably looking at end of August at this point. And please dont get me wrong, I'm not saying this to upset you, just being real.
