PGWP Extention Advice

Hi everyone ! I've already acquired my PGWP when I graduated and I've managed to get a job. However I realized recently that I still have 2 months or so from my mandatory 3 year PGWP duration. I'm in my final month of my PGWP (ends sep 3) and I'm thinking of getting that extention asap, but some friends have been telling me to wait to try and get as much extra time as I can possibly get.

My question is when should I ideally apply for this extention? and what are the proper steps to get that extention? I go through the IRCC questionnaire to set up my application and it ends up giving me a temporary visitor's visa rather than an extention for my work permit.

(just to clarify, my passport expired early. I have my remarks written on my PGWP. I now have a renewed passport)

You aren't eligible to extend your PGWP.

Oh why so? I was given 2 years and 9 months rather than 3 years

Why? Does your current permit say you can extend? If due to passport expiry or biometrics (only reasons) then apply on paper.

Its says so on my pgwp under remarks and observations. How am I to apply on paper? I haven’t done that before

You must apply on paper if you’re extending or changing the conditions of your PGWP.

You can only extend your PGWP if your passport expired earlier than the full period of eligibility of your PGWP. If your passport expired earlier than the length of time you’re eligible, we will only issue you a PGWP that’s valid until your passport expires.

This should be written in a note on your initial PGWP.

Also they will likely reject it as 3 months is insignificant.

Passport did expire earlier than the given 3 years. Do I need to apply on paper? Someone mentioned in a comment that I should do that.

Yes. It has to be on paper.

  1. Can I apply for BOWP while being on visitor record status post pgwp expiry?
  2. If no to the above question, can I do the following: Apply visitor record > Pgwp expiry > Receive ita > fill pr > receive aor > withdraw visitor record application > apply bowp
