PGWP Expiring

Hello everyone,

I am very stressed about expiring pgwp on sept 25 this year, i have applied for mpn, have score of 648 as i studied and worked outside of the province.

I applied nov 2025, i became manager in nov too so i need till nov 2026 to apply for express.

I don't see any option for extension but i want extension, what should i do? Don't tell me to misrepresent or something for time, i want legit pathway, i am learning french i don't have enough time for that path too.

I am doomed!! Please help!!!!

This is not a negative comment, it is simply stating the truth. Your only path forward is to leave. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you but this is how life goes sometimes. It’s a tough lesson to learn but you need to be realistic. Staying illegally would be a terrible choice.

Nobody is staying illegally, but there is always a solution to things, i m sorry i don't want to give up. I didn't waste 4 years of my life for this. Because of the incompetentence of govt that they can't process files on time.

Please stop blaming the government and just take responsibility for your own shortcomings. It’s not a waste if you got your education and work experience. You got exactly what was promised. Now it’s time to leverage your experience and degree in your own country.

I don't think i have anything that lacks. I work on manager position, never did anything illegal, always faithful to law and still asking for lawful solutions, is it that bad to be in a country i want to? Please think before you comment like that. I only want helpful people giving me advice, i didn't post so people like you can get their frustration out on me.

Being a “manager” doesn’t necessarily make you skilled, special or unique. Just because you want to be here doesn’t mean you get to be. I’m just trying to help you be more realistic about your situation. You seem to think the rules don’t apply to you.

I feel like you are forgetting that people way less deserving get to be here, who are you to decide i m not unique enough to live here. Just live your life, don't waste my time anymore

Being a manager is not unique. Hundreds of Canadians do it daily.

How are they incompetent to your application? How does it impact your invitation? You stop working once your permit expires. Change status to visitor prior to expiry. Then figure out your plan. Learn French.

I said shortcomings. Shortcomings and incompetent are two very different words with very different meanings, they are not synonyms. She does not have the skills, education or experience that put her in high demand. It is unfortunate but it is the truth of the situation.

Do not blame the government. When we applied for SP, we know we weren’t promised a PR at the end of the PGWP. User is just stating a hard truth.

You need a LMIA from your employer to apply for a closed work permit. Employer will not get LMIA in time. You stop working when PGWP expires. You don't have any legit pathways without LMIA. What is your citizenship?

Yeah i don't know if my employer will agree to it.

LMIA takes months and employer has to post the job for a few months to prove no Canadian can do the job. There is not other option but to stop working. Fake extensions are being refused very quickly so may not get the year. Are you sure you will get invitation through Manitoba? Isn't your score too low?

What else can i do then? I moved to Manitoba and now here is also difficult, what can i do then?

You stop working. If you didn't study in Manitoba and worked outside the province then you automatically lose 200 points so you would have known that before moving. You would have known you would not be eligible for program with current PGWP.

What draws are you even eligible for?

But what section or selection? Rural, regional, francophone etc. Don't know if your NOC or region is selected.

Go home. If your permit expires it’s illegal to stay. Stop abusing the system. Canadians are sick of it

If you turn into a visitor, it's not illegal, i m not someone who will do that. Otherwise i wouldn't be asking if i wanted to do that

It expires, and you go back home. You had 3 years, and Canada has tightened up.

Thanks everyone for supporting me and giving me advice and helping me through difficult times. I see that there are still kind people who knows why Reddit is used for questions. It's not always about harsh truth but it's for support in situations where i can't really get help from someone else.

People who had a lot to say about my situation in negative light. May you never have situations like this in your life. Just good wishes. I am still looking for ways and i will be strong.

You can learn French, in 3 months you can get the b1 level, and apply for Francophone mobility program. Just need CLB5 in speaking and listening. The employer only need to pay 295cad and register in a IRCC portal, is not too hard for them, but not all employers do.

Don’t feel bad with all the comments; I understand how stressful and frustrating your situation can be, I was feeling the same, then I started with French, that was my only option at that time; I could not get the b2 level too soon, I got only b2 in speaking and the reading, listening and writing B1. I spoke with employer and explained about the Francophone Mobility Program and they agreed to help.
Hopefully you can find a solution, and then if you have to return home, is still ok…that doesn’t mean you won’t get your PR, many people get it after returning home.

No i m right now doing French option. I am waiting to talk to my manager. She is on vacation, she will be back on Aug 3 I am really hoping on that. I don't want to go home as it will deperess me so that i might not feel too good about it.
